Director, Mixing Center Operations Kraft Foods - Chicago


Job Description
The Director Distribution Operations is responsible for all facets of Mixing Center Operation, and ensuring that the customers served by the location have the highest service level attainment possible. Orders shipped complete and on-time, within a safe, efficient, and effective operation are the primary objectives.
1.Develop strategy and direct overall operations for Kraft's seven mixing centers
2. Partner with the Business Units (BU), Centers of Excellence (COE) and Transportation to develop strategic operating plans 1-3 years into the future.
3. Partner with the Customer Development group to drive supply chain initiatives with specific customers.
4. Identify strategic opportunities and plans to optimize productivity levels, cost of sales, fill rates, etc.
5. Lead the partnership with Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers to identify, design, and execute key initiatives in accord with and to achieve the annual contract.
6. Develop key performance indicators to monitor and communicate site progress against agreed objectives.
7. Lead the implement Lean 6 Sigma processes and procedures across the sites in conjunction with the 3PL
8. Work with the respective BU's to identify and support cost saving opportunities and initiatives
9. Align with the 3PL to drive the lowest cost to serve/cost per case, utilizing Warehouse Task Optimization (WTO) standards
10. Facilitate sharing of "best practices" across all Mixing Center locations
11. Create linkages with the Transportation Operations Center (TOC) and Customer Service in pursuit of overall operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction
12. Monitor the 3PLs to ensure all Kraft accounting policies meet internal expectations and audit controls
13. Conduct weekly/monthly financial reviews
14. Provide insight and awareness to the 3PLs on safety programs and other operational effectiveness matters
15. Drive "gain share" program, creating win-win financial rewards for the company as well as the 3PLs
Ten years relevant business experience in Customer Service, Sales, Logistics, or related functions
Bachelor's degree required.
Deep understanding of industry
Deep understanding of supply chain best practices and trends
Broad multi-functional background with both HQ and Field experience
Customer-facing experience
Experience with labor relations
Exceptional leadership skills and ability to manage complexity in a ever-changing environment
Strong communicator, both written, verbal and presentation skills must be excellent
Specific technical knowledge of Kraft distribution methods, plant operations, and product characteristics
High results-orientation and hands-on engaged management style
Customer focused and "does what it takes" mentality
