Director - Operations - Polaris Industries - Minneapolis


Job Description
Direct leadership responsibility for the strategy and execution of global operations and supply chain for the Global Adjacent Markets Business (Work and Transportation Product Lines – Brutus/Aixam/Goupil/Mega/GEM). Develops and implements Lean strategies across business unit. Reports to the President, Global Adjacent Markets with matrixed responsibility into Operations. Provides leadership and direction to achieve World Class safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance for adjacent market value streams. Contributes to M&A growth strategy, leads due diligence and operations integration to deliver growth and performance objectives.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads and manages global operations organization supporting Global Adjacent Market value streams including both manufacturing and supply chain.
• Key contributor to long range planning and strategies to achieve $2B growth objective with emphasis on developing World Class operations for adjacent market value streams.
• Brings strategic operations leadership and perspective to bear on business unit decision making to drive growth and increase profitability and competitiveness of adjacent market businesses and overall business unit performance.
• Leads communication and integrated change management in matrix organization to align operations to value stream and customer requirements.
• Drives accomplishment of operational goals across business unit, conveys passion to achieve results that exceed expectations, maintaining a focus on broader value stream objectives.
• Contributes to M&A growth strategy and planning. Conducts due diligence and plans and executes integration strategies.
• Demonstrates and drives commitment to Lean principles and practices to achieve Lean Enterprise as Competitive advantage through significant quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
• Analyzes, recommends and manages production build plan scenarios to achieve business unit performance objectives.
• Attracts, develops and retains a strong team.

Skills, Knowledge & Education

Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field. An MBA is preferred.
12-15 years engineering and operations experience in positions of growing responsibility required.
Understanding of Polaris operations, strong business acumen, and ability to lead in broader business context.
International experience strongly preferred.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships in a matrix environment.
Proven success in driving change and leading process improvement within operations and business support.
Strong strategic thinker, capable of planning for and driving achievement of business deliverables.
Experience communicating, reporting and influencing executive leadership in a strategic partnership capacity.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives at once.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment, extended periods of sitting required.
Dynamic fast-paced team environment.
Some travel is required up to 40%.
