Position Summary
The vice president of sales and marketing reports to the CEO and is a member of the company’s senior executive team. He/she is responsible for the direction and management of:
All enterprise revenue generating activities in the company.
The company’s marketing organization.
(Possibly) Business Development.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Leading the company’s achievement of its customer acquisition and revenue goals.
The development of efficient, effective and scalable sales and marketing methodologies.
The development and implementation of staffing plans for the teams required to achieve the company’s revenue goals.
Driving the company’s efforts to position itself as the visionary leader in its emerging market.
Duties
Develop and manage a repeatable, scalable sales process.
Set appropriate metrics for sales pipeline management and manage to those metrics.
Oversee development of a sales and marketing organization matching the company’s maturity/size.
Establish compensation, training, and incentive programs for sales and marketing.
Support the strategic planning process including: corporate positioning; market and competitive analysis; customer segment selection and penetration plans; and related product positioning.
Oversee marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, white papers, trade shows, seminars and events, collaterals, analyst management, and web presence.
Lead or work closely with the VP of Business Development to develop, establish, and direct partners who can deliver revenues to the company separate and apart from its direct sales activities.
Participate in the development of pricing policies and contract terms and conditions.
Work with the CEO and other executive team members to identify and develop strategic alliances, secure financing, communicate with board members.
Act as spokesperson for the company with press and analysts and at industry events.
Skills/Qualifications:
High energy level and a burning desire to win and meet sales goals.
Excellent prospecting, networking, planning, consultative selling, presentation and closing skills.
Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive) strategy.
At least 10 years of sales experience in technology industries, with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
At least 5 years of experience directing marketing activities.
Established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners.
Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product/new market environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team oriented environment.
Prefer working knowledge with Salesforce.com. Experience in choosing, deploying (globally) and using a variety of marketing and sales software applications.
MBA, Advanced Degree or equivalent experience desired
BPO sales or business development experience is valuable
Crowd sourcing experience would be wonderful, but is not expected
