Pearson Technology (PT) is a centralized service organization within Pearson that provides technology solutions to the Pearson Operating companies worldwide. Our mission is to provide and support the infrastructure and services required for Pearson’s digital path. Pearson Technology enables new digital revenue and innovative business models; facilitates more effective management, movement and protection of our intellectual property; and fosters collaboration while achieving meaningful efficiencies and cost savings to support future growth and investment.
Pearson Technology is currently undergoing a complete transformation and re-organization that encompasses everything from the types of technologies available for implementation and support to the structure and delivery of technology resources. The Director of Communication is tasked with getting the message out about the “new” Pearson Technology to all the different constituents that PT serves: the employees of Pearson (including those within PT), the senior management of all the Pearson companies (potential clients of PT), as well as rebranding PT itself externally. Additionally this position will require developing marketing/branding campaigns that clearly define the new structure and capabilities of each service offering within PT.
Responsibilities:
The candidates will be responsible for:
Responsible for managing the day to day activities for all PT communications
Develop and implement an internal and external re-branding campaign for a global shared services IT organization
Develop and implement a campaign to introduce the competencies of the new service organizations to existing clients, newly acquired companies and potential new hires.
Foster internal dialogue using innovative communication platforms
Ensure that the Pearson Technology story is being told and discussed throughout the organization.
Continuing execution of the internal communications strategy, utilizing a variety of media, ensuring that the PT mission, vision, values and priorities are consistently reinforced and understood
Continuing employee focused communication campaign, including: executive management briefings, town hall meetings, opinion and satisfaction surveys, employee focus groups, Neo posts, and other items in support of the PT division
Supplying report/metrics on communication channel effectiveness and recommending improvements
Assisting in the development of best practices, governance, and gating process for communications. This work should be programmatic and set the foundation to be utilized for all PT programs
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience managing communications at a multi-national, multi-cultural corporation with an emphasis on strategic communications, planning and execution
Experience managing communications and re-branding for large transformational projects
Experience developing and implementing communication for an IT shared services group
Thorough understanding of the complexities of large, international, matrixed organizations and how to create effective communications
Experience developing and implementing creative communications platforms for both internal and external employees and/or clients
Deep knowledge and facility with new media and social media platforms
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. MA degree in related field is a plus
Experience with UK culture a big plus
Skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work independently, take initiative and produce results; creative thinker who is entrepreneurial by nature; ability to work on several projects concurrently; understanding of the media industry and global workforce; ability to identify, analyze and develop communication solutions on issues which address the needs of PT and has context relevant to our business. Solid knowledge of MS Office, Visio, Photoshop, InDesign and other related softwares.
