Job Description

As a member of the Apollo Excellence group (ApEx) this position will serve as a Senior Director of Business Improvement, assisting in implementing innovative strategies, actions, and projects to drive process improvement deployment and use throughout the Apollo Group. This position will be responsible for the management and coaching of ApEx Directors of Business Improvement who will also have process improvement project responsibility. The number of direct reports may vary from 3+ employees depending on the growth of the organization. This position reports directly to the VP of Apollo Excellence.

This position has management responsibility for those leading various short term and long term enterprise-wide and/or business unit specific projects of strategic importance. It requires significant coordination of internal Apollo Group employees. The direct reports, mostly Directors of Business Improvement, have project management responsibility for the planning, monitoring, and control of all aspects of projects and the motivation of all those involved to achieve the project objectives on-time and to the specified cost, quality, and performance. Within the project planning framework, the incumbent must drive project results by utilizing a compilation of process improvement methodologies, including lean, six sigma and innovation. He/she should have demonstrated abilities of cross functional, large-scale project Management in addition to having strong experience with large-scale continuous improvement methodology deployment. The ability to build relationships across the enterprise and communicate effectively with senior management is critical.

This position will also partner with leadership to identify and act on opportunities to effectively implement ApEx’s approach to problem solving. He/she will work with process owners to identify improvement opportunities and convert project ideas into scoped projects that are subsequently prioritized, resourced and executed. In addition, the incumbent will act as liaison between organizations and/or locations on operational excellence best practices.

Desired Skills & Experience

A thorough knowledge of operations and project management as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business. Master’s degree preferred.

Proven experience managing project teams with direct responsibility for people development. Works well in team environment.

Preferred certified black belt training with experience in execution of black belt level projects.

Must be results oriented and able to direct multiple projects, processes and people simultaneously.
