Strategy Director - GSD&M - Austin


Job description
Strategy Director is responsible for discovering an array of insights and crafting overall business and/or communications strategy that will drive engagement and ROI for our clients. The Strategy Director is objective, passionate, and visionary leader for idea team, agency and client. Should excel in all areas of core agency function--the strategy and insight needed to create, the clear articulation and passion of selling, the ability to partner with the creatives in order to execute and finally, to ensure that all steps of ROI have been taken into account fully and effectively from the beginning. While competence is required across all agency functions, the investigation of the marketplace and creation of the brand strategy lay primarily on the shoulders of planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for the creation, articulation and implementation of the overarching brand strategy--and for ensuring that the entire Idea Team can articulate it consistently

-Responsible for ensuring that brand idea, once articulated and apporved, is consistent across all aspect of clients communication (that agency is responsible for)


-Responsible for ensuring that all steps of the ROI process are taken, from beginning to end, so that agency and client clearly understand the definition of success.

-Responsible for uncovering and applying relevant, actionable and effective consumer and business insights

-Able to articulate PBB to internal and external clients alike, including the purpose and processes of proprietary tools

-Responsible for ensuring the professional integration and growth of strategists within group

-Responsible for the articulate promotion of the department within the agency and at key industry events

-Responsible for identifying and leading key agency and/or department oriented projects that advance new ideas, develop better ways of implementing our craft, or more effective applications of our craft.

Desired Skills and Experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
-Ability to see and understand 'big picture' of client's universe so as to act as sounding board and objective opinion leader. This should include the ability to discuss any aspect of business, industry and key competitors and provide clear and objective opinions on said business

-Ability to look at all independent initiatives for a brand through a more holistic view of the brand in order to lead the account from a more comprehensive and well-rounded perspective

-Ability to create a cooperative and collaborative working environments within core idea team, key client constituencies and key vendors

-Understanding of and ability to articulate the definitions of and differences between: strategy, insight, idea, execution, brand, product, organization and to ensure that idea team is working off same definitions

-Excellent understanding of qualitative and quantitative research--the design and application thereof

-Able to discuss research design, application and analysis at any time, creating a feeling of confidence and security with internal and external audience

-Excellent people management skills--able to help grow and retain key people, able to discuss issues pro-actively and solution-oriented

-Excellent time and project management--with a focus on delegation for training purposes

-Excellent written and verbal communication with a focus on clear, objective and absorbing presentation of all types of material

-"Command a Room" presenter, with a clear, confident and inspirational style
