Senior Director Business Development Wave Life Sciences Cambridge

The Director/Senior Director, of Business Development will be responsible for overseeing a portion of the overall business development function at the corporate level, such as partnerships/alliances or a given therapeutic area or product line. The individual will oversee the identification and pursuit of some or all of the following: strategic business opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and licensing agreements or evaluation/management of investments in company ventures or entrepreneurial opportunities.
Responsibilities:

Key contributor in developing, refining and executing on WAVE’s business strategy.
Participate in/ Lead in the identification, evaluation and development of acquisition, investment and partnership opportunities.
Establish creative deal structures and processes that result in business success and maximum value.
Lead/Contribute to compound and technology partnering activities across a range of therapeutic areas, asset and portfolio strategies.
Negotiate, draft and implement appropriate business legal agreements with external organizations to support research, development and commercial goals.
Manage deal and portfolio investment plan expenditures and delivery against goals.
Ensure the preparation of the analytical preparatory work and provide diligence support for all transactions (examples could include comparable deal analysis, financial modeling and simulations, NPV analysis, preparing and setting up diligence files, financing documents, etc.).
Lead/co-lead out-license/partnership discussions.
Lead/co-lead efforts to in-license additional programs.
Requirements:

An MBA with at least 5+ years of relevant industry experience in biotech/pharma; a Ph.D. or background in science is preferred. Must have an aptitude to quickly understand new science and technology.
Demonstrated experience in identifying value creation opportunities and executing on a plan to ensure the value is capitalized on.
Strong and demonstrated analytical and financial modeling capabilities.
Exceptional oral presentation and written communication skills.
Exposure to successful collaborations and/or partnerships including industry experience in negotiating and closing business deals.
Ability to work collaboratively with many different internal and external constituencies.
Ability to think Broadly and Globally about BioPharmacuetical industry and trends in the marketplace in a highly refined manner.
Demonstrated ability to create and champion new ideas and influence senior management.
