Massdrop’s Director of Manufacturing provides overall leadership for the team responsible for producing Massdrop’s Custom Products across hardware, electronics, clothing, accessories, and more. You will serve as the leader on all strategic and operational objectives in building and sustain a world-class manufacturing department. In this key management role, you will be challenged to lead the manufacturing team to support rapid growth through proactive planning and tight execution.
Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize cost, quality, capacity, lead-time, delivery, and time to market for new products
Build a global supply chain and establish partnerships with innovative and forward-looking manufacturers
Develop and implement metrics to track progress against financial, operational, and strategic goals
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment of goals and priorities
Ensure availability of manufacturing capacity to meet increasing demand for existing products and for the launch of new products
Achieve manufacturing plan consistently while managing cost without compromising quality and compliance to regulatory requirements
Identify and drive implementation of process designed to improve efficiency, reduce cost, increase quality, flexibility, and capacity
Hire, train, and develop a highly capable team of Production / Global Supply Chain Managers across various product categories
Establish programs that drive ongoing productivity improvements, using lean and six sigma principles as appropriate
Monitor compliance to budgets and take timely corrective actions as needed to stay on track
Continually assesses and improves the competitiveness of all policies and practices against relevant comparable companies and industries
Works closely with Project Management and R&D + Design departments to ensure pipeline is executed to established budgets and timelines
And these are the skills and experience you'll need to be successful:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, advanced degree preferred
Proven track record including a minimum of 10+ years of experience conducting and leading Manufacturing teams
Strong financial acumen working with budgets in excess of $50M or more
Proven experience and track record regarding process improvement of complex manufacturing systems
Strong technical analytical skills including Value Stream Mapping, FMEA, statistical methods, and Six Sigma techniques
Previous hardware, electronics, and consumer products manufacturing experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
