Abbyson is looking for a dynamic individual to join as the Director of Accounting within our Accounting/Finance department to manage daily accounting functions and to oversee the accounting staff. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Director of Accounting will be an essential member of the team. The Director of Accounting will supervise accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter individual with strong analytical skills with a strong background in Accounting in a consumer product company. This role should have the ability to quickly comprehend the business operations and functioning.
Coordinate, lead, develop and direct accounting team effort in all aspects of accounting functions including but not limited to: General ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly BBC, payroll, and inventory management in multiple locations to include costing and landed freight expense.
Maintain financial and management procedures to ensure company is in compliance with all GAAP requirements, multi-state sales tax and changes in financial regulations and legislation.
Be accountable for the accurate and timely consolidation of all accounting and financial reporting such as: income statements, balance sheets and cash flow.
Utilize Capital Expenditure Analysis and Review by reporting actual results versus forecasts and budgets.
Liaise with auditor (bank and external) to ensure appropriate monitoring and controls.
Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts: auditors, bankers and statutory organizations.
Lead monthly closing process including review and post journal entries, review account reconciliations, consolidation, and prepare monthly financial statements.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
Assist the Corporate Controller in banking/treasury functions.
Support the budget and forecasting activities.
Maintain appropriate internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial and management reports.
Assist in preparation of monthly management and bank reporting packages and related analysis.
Develop accounting systems and internal control processes to enhance the company’s financial reporting and internal control environment.
Special projects as directed by Controller.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business with Accounting Core or related field.
MBA or equivalent experience, CPA a plus.
Minimum 10+ years' experience in a management or supervisory role required.
Minimum 5+ years’ related accounting experience in a Consumer product environment required.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience with general accounting principles, standard cost systems including average inventory costing, including FIFO and LIFO.
Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills.
Possess excellent analytical, planning and organization skills.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities, set and achieve challenging goals; work under the pressure of deadline and be adept at managing multiple tasks.
Advanced skills and experience in MS Excel is needed, Access is a plus.
Experience with MS Dynamics GreatPlains Software a plus.
