Director Engineering Chrome Web Platform Google Mountain View

With extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

You are a passionate engineering leader who will be focused on the development of the web platform for Chrome. The Director of Engineering, Chrome Platform will take on complex problems with creative solutions, and will help drive the technical definition of product integrations with other Google products in a scalable and expedient way to delight our users. You are able to clearly communicate your vision and goals with a large team and shape the strategy for, plan and ensure rapid delivery of high quality services. Responsibilities
Provide technical vision and strategy for the Chrome browser’s web platform. Design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap.
Take a position of authority on shaping the strategy and plan, and ensure rapid delivery of services with quality.
Manage and grow a team of software engineers, including iteration and task planning. Work closely with other engineering teams to reuse and understand existing frameworks.
Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
Partner closely with Product Management to create, drive and deliver innovative, compelling and user-friendly products.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of professional experience in engineering and leading large scale organizations of more than 50 engineers.

Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
Experience developing high-growth, consumer / user-centric technology platforms.
Strong engineering leadership and ability to attract top talent, motivate people, instill accountability and get best out of the team.
Ability to contribute to architecture/design discussions and make sound technical decisions.
Ability to set and drive the “big picture” strategy while also having the capability to provide detailed technical guidance to the team, enabling them to execute more effectively and deliver products on time and within budget.
