Director Development Funds Silicon Valley Community Foundation Mountain View

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director of Development:Funds is responsible for supporting Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s (“SVCF”) development department plans and leading assigned strategies and tactics in these plans. The Director will refine assigned programs, build relationships with various constituents and bring greater awareness to new constituents. The Director will manage a team of development staff members and play a leadership role in SVCF’s ability to raise in excess of $600 million annually and open more than 160 funds per year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In partnership with the VP of Development propose strategies that refine and expand development programs to ensure that annual goals are achieved.
Initiate and support philanthropic relationships between SVCF and individuals, corporations and nonprofits.
Hire, train, and supervise new and existing development team members. Provide feedback and conduct performance evaluations in order to lead the team to achieve annual goals and individual and team metrics.
Ensure that direct reports are appropriately trained to discuss SVCF services in meetings with internal, external constituents and advisors. Train staff to present and respond to inquiries and about SVCF and SVCF service offerings.
Manage a portfolio of assigned prospects engage with prospective donors in person, by email, and by phone in order to open new charitable vehicles and secure outright gifts for SVCF-led initiatives.
Build relationships and work with professional advisors such as attorneys, tax planners and wealth experts to facilitate their clients’ charitable goals utilizing SVCF services and offerings.
Maintain accurate records on prospect communications in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Build relationships with other members of the development team and other colleagues in the Development Department to work with professional advisors.
Serve as the department’s representative on various committees, internal cross-departmental initiatives or other project teams that strengthen SVCF’s relationship throughout the Silicon Valley. Lead projects as assigned.
Track results, evaluate and manage progress toward short-term and long-term goals. Create accurate records on contracts and financial reports - including annual program budgets and revenue forecast. Maintain accurate records on prospect communication in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Serve as the technical expert for funds and remain informed on legal, accounting, investment and technology issues as they affect charitable giving and creation of work product for clients.
Attend, participate and present at industry conferences. Attend and plan events to establish increased visibility for SVCF.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an, accredited four-year institution.
Minimum of 4 years of applicable professional experience, including at least 1 year in nonprofit fundraising. Management experience is preferred.
Self-motivated with the ability to make tactical decisions in a complex and high-paced/high-output environment.
Ability to manage and meet internal and external deadlines for complex projects, while balancing competing priorities.
Ability to participate as a team member, working collaboratively and managing projects across diverse groups, with a commitment to following and enforcing processes and procedures.
Unwavering commitment to customer service and experience providing prompt, professional responses to all prospect inquiries.
Experience in contributing to the growth of an organization by supporting new partnerships or business development opportunities.
Demonstrated success in developing donor or client relationships resulting in significant support for an organization.
Demonstrated effort to maintain and grow knowledge in relevant areas.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience drafting and presenting information and proposals.
Proficient in working with a CRM database (Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, etc.) including data entry and constituent record updates.
Demonstrated proficiency with data and financial information, strong ability to create reports and spreadsheets using data.
A strong attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills along with excellent mathematical and system skills.
Mastery of Outlook and Excel programs.
