Client Reporting Capabilities Director Franklin Templeton Investments San Mateo

The Client Reporting Capabilities Director will be responsible for defining, articulating and executing on an industry leading Institutional client information delivery platform. They will need to articulate desired, future business capabilities to technology partners, and enlist technical support to turn objectives and concepts into defined deliverables.

They will also need to partner with senior leaders globally to develop and maintain a clear governance process over all client, industry and market driven requirements.

They will need a technology aptitude to assist in defining solutions that entail new or enhanced technologies as well as new, enhanced or re-engineered business processes. They will need to align recommended solutions with other Franklin Templeton Investments (FTI) strategic objectives.

They will be an FTI-level SME in the overall client support capability in order to provide strategic guidance and leadership to other business lines within FTI as we expand this capability across client types and organizational boundaries.
They will need strong partnering skills in a teamwork oriented environment.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Client Reporting Capabilities Director?

Leadership:
• Demonstrate calm and thoughtful leadership and participation in the face of conflict, uncertainty, rapid change and aggressive deadlines.
• Engender participation, engagement and teamwork from matrixed and non-matrixed efforts, initiative participants and stakeholders to ensure timely, effective delivery and impactful change management.
• Lead the effort to unify technology and business leaders and team members around a common vision and shared plans for delivery.
• Provide strategic and tactical guidance throughout the course of the evolution of the capability
• Share knowledge and mentor other teams and stakeholders
• Directly lead and mentor team of 4-8 business partner/business analysis leads
• Indirectly manage, guide, organize and coordinate teams across Global Marketing Services and Franklin Templeton Technologies (team of 40-50)
• Manage vendor relationship including negotiation of multi-million dollar contracts
• Coordinate global relationship with parent vendor organization across all parts of FTI (Parent vendor has multiple relationships with FTI)

Make Decisions and Drive for Results:
• Aggregate the necessary inputs (both quantitative and qualitative) to facilitate fact-based decision-making across a broad range of stakeholders/senior business partners with competing considerations and objectives
• Apply a long-term, strategic and enterprise-wide lens to recommendations and decisions.
• Facilitate large, diverse groups in high-level design and decision-making processes adapting approach and methodology to achieve the most benefit to the FTI client base
• Maintain focus on longer-term company strategies and ensure overall capability aligns with and supports these strategies.
• Change direction as warranted to ensure alignment with business priorities and objectives.
• Overcome resistance in decision making by providing relevant data, using advanced decision-making techniques and influencing skills.
• Identify current and future risks and obstacles to achieving business objectives. Identify and support adoption of creative solutions.

Stakeholder Management:
• Work with and through senior stakeholders to understand business issues and objectives and translate those into compelling client-oriented solutions and deliverable capabilities
• Negotiate competing interests and demands including conflicting business objectives, resource contention and differing viewpoints to drive to governance and prioritization for all client deliverables
• Manage the process of translating and bridge-building between business and technology teams to ensure alignment and maximize use of available resources.
• Define and coordinate securing commitments from cross-functional groups and external providers in terms of resources, cost, schedule and performance
• Articulate and share end-state visions, capabilities road maps and other strategic and vision-oriented documentation to raise the level of conversation to arrive at the best evolutionary direction for all Franklin Templeton clients

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
College Degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred but not mandatory
Extensive experience with a large asset manager working in the institutional client channel
Extensive global capability management experience along with project management experience; experience managing and/or guiding teams directly or indirectly required.
Experience working with programs targeting the institutional client market and evolving a positive client experience.
Extensive experience managing vendor relationships
Extensive experience managing across all global regions and across/within a multi-cultural global organization
Proven ability to coordinate cross functional teams of IT professionals, business executives, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, quantify and effectively raise business risks associated with client requirements
Experience in turning vague/minimal business requests into actionable technology requirements
Flexible and has a wide range of excellent communication and presentation skills: excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated success in leadership role and vision
Strong leadership experience
Ability to generate respect and trust from staff, business partners and external constituencies.
