Marketing Director Biotech Systems Pall Corporation Westborough

Product Management is foundational in Pall Biotech and a role in which the key responsibility and focus is product lifecycle management. To reduce complexity and leverage synergies, we have established four primary Pall Biotech product portfolios. A product portfolio is comprised of more then 2 unique product families. Each portfolio will be led by a Director of Marketing reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, Pall Biotech. Portfolio directors will have global reach and will operate like “CEOs”, providing direction on strategy, rationalization, optimization of sales processes and channels to market. The Director of Solutions Marketing will be responsible for defining and executing effective marketing programs and initiatives to maintain and support the growth of a Pall Biotech systems portfolio. Individual product managers with specific product family responsibility will report directly the Director of Marketing. This position is a key member of the Pall Biotech global marketing team and requires daily interaction with global sales, R&D, product marketing teams, and scientific laboratory service leaders to meet growth objectives associated with his/her portfolio.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Solutions (Pall Biotech Systems) Marketing is responsible for the technical health of their assigned portfolio and development of product managers assigned to their portfolio. “Solutions” are multiple bioprocessing unit operations linked to one another to deliver an end to end process with unique economic, ease of use, or low cost benefits. Solutions include all modes of bioprocess: continuous, single use, and standard skids. Typical value of a solution will be greater than $1M. Responsibilities includes on-going technology assessment within the context of the competitive landscape.

In addition, the Director of Solutions Marketing will perform on-going win/loss analysis to better understand the features that are required for improved sales success. Based on market-driven feedback from customers and prospects, the Director of Solutions Marketing will write clear product requirements and product development plans. The Director of Solutions Marketing will work closely with R&D managers to define the contents and delivery of a product release.

The Director if Solutions Marketing will create and maintain the business plan for the markets served by their portfolio. In this role, s/he will articulate the company’s distinctive competence and the product’s unique advantage. In support of the business case, the Director will perform qualitative and quantitative research with existing customers and potential prospects. In addition, the Director will perform sales, trend, and profitability analysis. As the key business manager on the product, the Director will interface with industry thought leaders and strategic partners. The Director will work with decision makers in marketing communications and sales management to ensure that the product is correctly communicated to the market.

Strong VOC processing skills and ability to develop new product concepts based on VOC
Provides in-depth market, industry and competitive analysis and product positioning;
Develops pricing and packaging strategies;
Work closely with the sales team to develop sales tools and training;
Develop and manage customer care programs;
Work with the team to develop innovative marketing programs and show event campaigns;
Develop content for product and company collateral;
Identify and analyze market and implement marketing strategies and core promotional support programs;
Support market research programs for the creation and evaluation of marketing strategies;
Conduct intelligence gathering to assess competition and alternative solutions;
Work with Marketing Communications to assure web site content development
Identify new business opportunities including new offerings to optimize and enhance the service portfolio
Develop and play a role in delivering presentations for all levels of management as well as for other internal and external audiences;
Provide timely and accurate feedback and manage communications to appropriate managers on key issues regarding services.
Up to 50% travel, including domestic and international travel to customers, meetings, and technical conferences/exhibits.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in Life Sciences (Biology or Chemistry) or related discipline. .
Minimum 10 years with at least 5 years of combined experience in practical bioprocess applications, marketing or sales in the biopharmaceuticals sub segments.
5+ years of experience in product management of biopharmaceutical manufacture process related technology
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success in product launches and start to finish execution of marketing strategies
Ability to do product demonstrations
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required; experience working in a matrix environment and managing multiple priorities and projects with dynamic timelines to execution:

Knowledge of the Internet and prior experience utilizing the web as a marketing vehicle

Mastery of the leading advanced market research principles & practices, including conjoint analysis, customer panels, cost of ownership modeling, and other research techniques;
Seasoned experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel
