Director Product Ownership Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Teradata Santa Clara

Reporting to: VP and GM, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. We are looking for a self-motivated Product Ownership Director to join a team charged with building products that make artificial intelligence and data science technologies useful for enterprise customers.
Working closely with the services organization, a dedicated engineering team, customers, leadership, and sales & marketing teams, the Product Ownership Director will leverage his/her technical, analytical, process and strategic skills towards executing high impact value added opportunities that will drive Teradata’s growth in this space. The role requires an individual with strong leadership who can create and evangelize a product vision. He/She must collaborate with a team of innovators and engineers to continue Teradata’s tradition of building enterprise capabilities, but now more focused on the line of business buyer; help to develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers, prospects and partners while nurturing a vibrant ecosystem to incubate Artificial Intelligence products and solutions.

The role requires an individual with strong analytical, leadership, and partnering skills. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture, see-around-the-bend vision; and the drive, influencing skills and the ability to collaborate with R&D and Leadership teams to transform that vision into a reality. He/she must also enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Aligning the product vision with overall company goals.
Leading the definition of next generation applications for enterprise customers by creating a product roadmap that is outcome and customer focused.
Develop and define a requirements development and product ownership process aligned with industry best practices and best of breed tools, to ensure that collaboration; transparency and agility are intrinsic parts of every day work.
Own development of product requirements, as well as requirements related to product supportability, education and training based on use case and business value definitions.
Define, develop and manage a feature enhancement process that includes reviews and prioritization with key field stakeholders.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of solution offerings, components and support for business model development.
Own oversight of the product capabilities and its impact to overall solution integration and infrastructure.
Conduct market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
Manage the whole product delivery process from requirements to production to ensure an on-target, high quality, and timely release.
Work with customers, prospects, service delivery teams, support, sales, and other outside influencers to ensure a well-rounded understanding of product needs is being properly considered within product specifications.
Work with Strategic Offer Management, Field Marketing, Corporate Marketing, and Professional Services, as well as other internal groups to ensure the product functionality and delivery window is aligned with the overall corporate strategies and goals.
Understand market research on a set of products to ensure competitive threats are understood and addressed within the product deliverables.
Drive the strategy, direction, investment and realization of Teradata’s Artificial Intelligence & Data Science portfolio; Responsibilities also including pricing strategy and methodology, revenue and market share projection, and results tracking.
Drive a solution set across development teams and Marketing through agile market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
Maintain a business plan, including make vs buy decisions and analyzing potential partner relationships for products.
Qualifications

Requirements MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent discipline. At least 5-7 years’ experience with emphasis on data science and machine learning, previous exposure to and in- depth knowledge of deep learning and AI technologies and knowledge of the practical uses/ applications in large enterprise ecosystems. Knowledge of current software frameworks for Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
