You will be based in New York or Chicago and will work as a core part of the McKinsey Academy team, a New Ventures scale-up that brings McKinsey expertise to our clients for leadership development and functional capability building. WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will lead a team of product managers towards delivering products with high levels of value, usability, quality.
In this role you will be a strategic and visionary product leader. You will bring a combination of strong vision and high-level product process to drive our product team. You’ll be responsible for the team driving the architecture, design, and execution phases of Academy product components. Your team will incorporate the Academy’s vision and business plans to develop product roadmaps using “lean start-up” approaches and based on opportunity assessments, McKinsey ideas & expertise, competitive intelligence, technology trends, and client feedback.
You’ll be asked to assess technology partnerships (i.e., 3rd party software upon which the solution is built); continually assess build vs buy approach to new functionality. Additionally, you will support the business development team in high-profile client development opportunities, specifically by providing product knowledge, competitive intelligence, and evaluating new feature developments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree with excellent academic record (CS degree preferred)10+ years of professional experience in software roles, including meaningful experience in strategic product managementDemonstrated experience in product design, product development, technical Product management and functional designKnowledge and understanding of technical engineering best practices (test driven development, continuous integration, etc.) Expert knowledge of Agile best practices and tooling (Jira, Git, etc.)Working knowledge of SaaS technical issues (e.g., configuration, integration, etc.)Experience building, leading and mentoring product management teamsPrior experience managing offshore development teamsAbility to rally and drive teams and effectively operate within a rapidly growing organizationExperience in Edtech industry is a plus, passion for ed tech is mandatoryPassionate belief that every software implementation must be successful, as measured by value realization and client satisfactionAbility to be “stand-alone” in senior client settings.
