The Director is responsible for the vision and leadership of the team delivering our high-quality, reliable, and stable infrastructure technologies and security capabilities that make up the Cloud Foundation Services (CFS) platform. The team supports multiple Starbucks products, including the Unified Commerce Platform.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
In collaboration with other Starbucks’ leaders, defines the vision, strategy and roadmap for the Cloud Foundation Services platform.
Hires, leads and mentors a team of engineers to execute the strategic vision and direction for the platform.
Defines and applies policies, processes and practices to ensures application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure and meet company objectives
Supports the team and leads activities to resolve issues in a timely and accurate fashion
Ability to effectively manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives
Conducts research and makes recommendations on standards, products, and services in support of the Starbucks products leveraging the cloud platform
Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and cross-functional team environment
Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
Summary of Experience
BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience leading high performing technology teams (5+ years)
Strong technical background and understanding in the areas of enterprise infrastructure and information security.
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical environments in a production setting
Experience with highly virtualized environments; cloud technologies, both public and private; container management and orchestration solutions. Relevant technologies include AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience leading and developing continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) solutions in production software settings
Experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering (5+ years)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge in application development and supporting a development environment, including continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) automation. Relevant technologies include Jenkins, Concourse and GitHub.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as PCI, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), SOX, etc.
Knowledge in databases and comfortable with various open source or cloud databases, such as Cassandra or DynamoDB.
Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
