Director Business Development Sales Shangri-La Hotels And Resorts Los Angeles

You will represent Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts (SLIM) to luxury travel agencies & entertainment accounts located on the West Coast of the USA & Canada. Cultivate deep relationships with luxury travel consultants to ensure retail agency revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. To manage partnerships with The Americas specialty luxury agency programs including the Signature Travel Network and Altour Hotel Program and grow Luxury Circle agency base and production on behalf of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Duties & Responsibilities

Represent the group to the travel industry in a highly professional manner.
Solicit new and existing FIT accounts and achieve or exceed revenue goals. This will consist of telephone, email solicitations, outsides sales calls, FAM trips/site inspections and written communication.
With the assistance of the agency sales team ensure that targeted luxury retail agencies promote and sell as many Shangri-La hotels and Resorts as possible.
Achieve performance objectives as outlined within the department and understand the financial goals of the RSO.
Responsible for direct sales solicitation on behalf of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
Liaise and manage special luxury travel organizations to grow SLIM membership, revenues and to ensure participating hotel and resort compliance and rate parity.
Initiate and conduct regular marketing-review meetings, including at senior management level with managed clients, to ensure that both parties are working in partnership to keep the business development on track. Report back to VPS and hotels accordingly.
Communicate effectively and efficiently at all times both with the hotels and the clients when negotiating rates, and discussing potential marketing opportunities.
Prepare annual America’s luxury retail agency sales business plan, internal production reports and Sales Force maintenance.
Prepare and submit relevant segments relating to the annual Financial Plan and Marketing Plan with the guidance from the DOBD Agency Sales & VPS, The Americas.
Stay current on the needs and desires of today’s affluent travel consumers.
Prepare a quarterly report providing an overview of activities undertaken the month previous and new accounts met in that month. Include a market overview for this segment with emphasis on trends and news from your clients and tactical activities and competitor changes within your sales territory.
Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, customer travel preferences, competition tactics and sales activities and gain feedback and insights from specialty travel companies for SLI strategy and planning.
Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
Participate as a team player with North America RSO team and other internal customers and constituents.
Work with SLI’s hotels and resorts to provide quality services to customers.
Generate cross sell leads for NA RSO teammates for small meetings and board meetings when calling on key accounts.
Ability to create and implement a business action plan as it relates to securing retail agency business.
Utilize extensive industry relationships to recommend additional marketing partnerships to DOBD Agency Sales and VPS.
Create and arrange familiarization educational trips involving luxury retail agencies.
Increase and maintain database of agencies.
Conduct mass mailings and e-mail blasts promoting current specials and identify on-line opportunities that can grow SLI brand.
Ensure at all times that the positioning of the Shangri-La brand is used correctly when engaged in sales and promotional opportunities with retail agencies.
Seek out new and better ways to improve our efforts to stay ahead of the competition.
Handle VIP clientele arrangements professionally
Ensure that yearly account management plans are put in place for key accounts for the Leisure segment

Position Qualifications

Good knowledge of relevant geographic regions such as Asia, North America, Europe, Middle East and India.
Demonstrates hands-on leadership skills that exemplify a high sense of commitment, integrity, teamwork and honesty that will develop sales and support staff.
Excellent planning and follow-up skills.
Strategic thinker who is capable of interacting with all levels of management of specialty travel agencies.
Personal computer knowledge mandatory (Sales Force, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel).
Ability to travel.
