The Director of Curriculum Development has overall accountability for providing strategies for effective incorporation of educational technology and multimedia, innovative instructional design approaches, instructional design, and consistent quality assurance and publishing guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs and manages the human resources cost, development and growth functions for the curriculum staff. This includes reviewing and approving personnel actions including recruitment, selection or promotion of staff, evaluations, salary determinations, and disciplinary actions.

Provides leadership in Instructional Design and collaborates closely with the ID managers in new program development, curricular renovation, staff development and the design of courses. S/he will help identify the pedagogical best practices and supporting educational technologies needed to effectively execute curricular development goals.

Demonstrates a commitment to learning excellence by providing leadership and direction to the QA team manager regarding curriculum development and deployment. Aides in the development of processes and rubrics to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the QA process.

Supports the editing team manager to ensure the proper scaffolding of content in course development supporting student success and outcomes. Aides in the development of processes and rubrics to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the editing process.

Participates in the development and implementation of department budget, goals, and objectives in accordance with established University standards, goals, and objectives. Develops and implements, as well as, analyzes and enhances department operational processes and procedures on a continual basis.

Partners on the implementation of the University’s strategy for the integration of technology and media into the educational environments of the schools/colleges, including the use of external partnerships, educational tools, etc.

Supports individual school’s/college’s curriculum strategies through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational innovations to positively influence student engagement, retention, and success.

Collaborates with instructional technology leadership to incorporate leading instructional technology into curriculum.

Establishes quality assurance and publishing guidelines and ensures consistent application across the schools/colleges.

Leads and/or participates in cross-functional teams to support University goals/objectives.

Direct supervision over the instructional design team managers, the editing team manager and the QA team manager

Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, or Educational Leadership with emerging technologies is required.

• Seven years of experience in a progressively responsible capacity in an education environment directing and/or leading activities organization-wide

• Proven knowledge in the areas of instructional design, adult learning principles and practices, curriculum development, and educational technology

• High level of conceptual and strategic thinking to establish and oversee academic procedures and standards

• Record of successfully developing and managing resources and a track record of driving and delivering results

• Evidence of initiative, logical decision making, and strong management skills

• Critical thinking, problem-solving, relationship building, negotiation and anticipatory abilities

• High degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact

• Excellent communication, networking, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, as well as a collaborative leadership style

• Results oriented and able to direct multiple projects and activities
