Director Global Value Chain Strategy Transitions ABB Zürich

As the Director, Global Value Chain Strategy & Transitions, Motors & Generators Business Unit you will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Business Unit (BU) value chain strategy. This includes responsibility for BU-wide identification and investment strategies for core manufacturing competencies as well as make vs. buy policy across all Operations & Supply Chain functions. You will be responsible for the design of strategies and concepts, as well as the development and execution of the global manufacturing footprint plan (construction and repositions). These strategies streamline operations to enable business growth by reducing cycle time and cost while increasing delivery and quality performance.
Tasks:
• Development and maintenance of BU value chain strategy to enable business growth. Ensure alignment with Product Groups (PG), Research and Development (R&D) and other key stakeholders
• Development and execution of a comprehensive manufacturing footprint plan, to include division and group alignment, repositioning and construction funding as needed.
• Reduce BU fixed costs while meeting the needs of the business to exceed customer expectations
• Develop synergy models for Merge & Acquisition (M&A) financial analysis to meet company objectives. Validate assumptions through the due-diligence process, and support the integration planning of acquisitions. Lead the execution of divestitures post-deal
• Lead the process of Operations strategic planning, ensuring functional plans support the needs of PGs and other functions
• Participate in the development of global sourcing strategies, and flawlessly execute all supplier transitions
• Develop offset strategies for Operations to enable growth.
• Network with industry thought leaders to determine best practices and ideas from outside of ABB
• Drive knowledge management and retention to ensure execution of long term actions.
• Drive process improvement and leverage Lean Six Sigma methodologies for effective process definition, measurement, and controls
• Generate results in global business locations/cultures
• Create a positive working environment with PG and other functional leaders. Actively maintain positive employee relations

Requirements:
- Minimum 12+ years’ experience in multiple disciplines (manufacturing, sourcing, AME, planning etc.) and/or business management with at least 10+ years in key leadership roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, Engineering or related field
- The ability to see the “big picture”, and a bias/determination to optimize operational performance
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results through influence in a cross-functional, matrix team environment
- Self-driven and motivated, upwardly mobile and able to interface with technical and business experts, manage multiple projects, and perform as a productive team leader and individual contributor
- Demonstrated track record of taking initiatives from concept to action, and delivering positive results
- Six Sigma Green Belt certified
- Fluent in English, other languages are an added advantage
- Flexibility to travel up to 30%
