Director Global Media Telenor Fornebu

We are seeking a data-driven, ambitious and experienced media “thought leader” that can build and drive Telenor’s global media practice. You will join a team of experienced professionals within customer insight, analytics, brand and digital marketing that are passionate about driving marketing performance and support Telenor’s digital transformation agenda.

The main purpose of the role is to drive media excellence, optimization and competency across the Telenor Group. In addition, you will develop strong thought leadership and best practice for paid media strategies in Telenor, and manage and drive efficiencies in Telenor’s global media agency relationships and contracts. Operationally you will build common approaches to media, lead initiatives on data-driven media optimization, and execute collaborative projects across regions that drive additional value and competitiveness in local markets. You will play a key role in driving the shift to digital media together with the Digital Marketing team.
You have broad experience from developing and executing media strategies for large, international consumer-oriented brands/organizations, as well as in driving value creation in professional media agency and publisher relationships. You have managed large media budgets with gravity on traditional ATL media and at the same time have significant digital experience. You have a proven track record in media mix optimization and from the development and application of high-quality analytical models. You have the ability to drive processes across multiple business units, to build common frameworks across media strategy and spend optimization, agency management and negotiations, audits and performance measurement.

Key responsibilities

Establish Telenor’s global media practice and drive best in class, efficient and business-focused media strategies across the Group
Be a subject matter expert in media planning, optimization and buying across all media channels and establish a best-in-class standard for media at Telenor Group.
Build and secure that common media planning methodologies, KPI benchmarks and buying processes are adopted across the Group
Develop a standard for data-driven media analysis, planning and reporting to optimize media spend and drive efficiencies
Manage global media agencies and media auditors in close cooperation with Group Sourcing.
Identify synergy projects that leverage scale within media. Lead development of common media campaigns across countries/regions.
Establish relationships with global/regional media publishers to leverage spend across the Group.
Qualifications

7+ years of solid experience developing and optimizing integrated media plans and tactics for well-established international brands, with focus on consumer services.
Experience leading the media function on the ‘client-side’, including managing an outside media agency, or working with brands on the “agency-side”
Good understanding of agency finance principles and models
Experience in working in both direct response and brand-driven media environments
Experience with traditional and non-digital channels, and significant digital experience with strong knowledge of digital media trends, technologies and methodologies to optimize media investments
Knowledge of marketing fundamentals and media mix optimization
Proven track record in developing and understanding high-quality analytical models and supervision of modelling efforts
Ability to derive conclusions from analysis and communicate those effectively to business leaders
Strong Excel analytical and data management skills
Knowledge of analytical packages such as SAS and/or R an advantage
Strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and with general Web based interfaces
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in business / economics
Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline: e.g., statistics, applied mathematics, econometrics, economics, operations research, or marketing science an advantage
Personal qualities

Strong people skills with the ability to manage vendor relationships and lead a quantitative analysis/implementation team
Proven negotiation skills (agencies, publishers, vendors) and budget management skills
Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior business managers, primarily in the marketing function
Flexibility and ability to manage multiple assignments in a dynamic, complex and fast paced environment
Extremely comfortable with understanding large databases and data sets
Professional attitude and service orientation; team player
