RESPONSIBILITIES
Structure, negotiate and administer business deals in connection with the development, production & post-production of HBO television pilots, series & limited series, including (for example) deals for actors, directors, rights acquisition, writers, executive producers, line producers & casting directors.
Prepare concise yet thorough deal summaries for use by Legal department, production & finance groups. Review & approve program screen credits, promotional, publicity & marketing materials. Approve invoices and track payments to ensure compliance with contracts & guild requirements.
Advise and assist Legal personnel in connection with drafting & revising agreements. Collaborate with a wide variety of internal personnel involved in the development, production and primary & ancillary exploitation of programming to identify and resolve business & legal issues.
Extensive knowledge of entertainment law and working knowledge of applicable collective bargaining agreements (with series television business/legal affairs experience a plus).
Excellent written & verbal communication and organizational skills, as well as critical thinking & analytical skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage a heavy workload efficiently & smoothly under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact with a variety of personalities & styles, internally & externally, at all organizational levels. Highly self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
5 years of experience in television business affairs or as a transactional attorney at an entertainment law firm or television network/studio. Member of the California bar.
Juris Doctor from a law school of recognized standing plus a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from a recognized university.
Substantial experience in series television business affairs, with prior entertainment legal experience.
