The role is accountable for:
overseeing all aspects of US and Canadian employment tax compliance, and delivering 100% compliance (e.g 941, W-2/W-2c process, IAs, short term business visitors, contractors, equity compensation, taxable fringe benefits, foreign entertainers, etc)
setting NAM tax strategy and managing risk
supporting tax audits
delivering value and efficiencies where appropriate
providing technical support to NAM market
managing advisors
delivering robust governance framework
Financial: The US group has approximately [2,500] employees and must collect and remit payroll related taxes.
Market Complexity
The NAM market is highly complex and includes employment tax obligations in both the US and Canada, at both a federal and state/provincial level.
The US is also one of the biggest locations for international assignees inbound and outbound.
The role requires a comprehensive understanding of US and Canadian employment tax, equity compensation and taxation of business visitors
Leadership Responsibilities
The role will have no direct reports but will be expected to work closely with HR, Rewards, Global Mobility, and Payroll, with support from the Associate Director, Global Employment Taxes.
Purpose of Role
To support to the delivery of full employment tax compliance and risk management for the US group. To deliver robust compliance governance framework and create efficiencies/value where appropriate. To embed global employment tax strategy and best practices.
Top Accountabilities
Assist in managing risk associated with NAM employment tax and accountabilities. This will include providing technical guidance and direction to enable the NAM controller to ensure best practices regarding employment tax compliance.
Support to NAM Controller, HR, Payroll and Rewards on all aspects of US employment tax compliance, including Payroll, Short Term Business Visitor, IA, taxable fringe benefits, equity compensation, foreign entertainers, and contractors.
To implement and embed effective compliance and an ongoing governance process for managing employment tax accountabilities in NAM, including business partnering, training and communications
Support to IRS Federal and State tax audits of employment taxes
