Deploy training programs that cultivate and engage talent at all levels and roles in the Retail organization, with a focus on our rapidly growing team of Retail Category Specialists
Identify and assess future and current organizational learning needs by building partnership and gathering input from key organizational stakeholders
Lead our internal team of Learning and Development professionals, launching new learning experiences and optimizing existing programs, leveraging the latest in learning best practices. Develop the team to meet ever changing business needs and grow key skills
Engage, inspire and support employees to share their knowledge. Help to build skills within the company, enabling employees at all levels to become effective teachers, and enhancing our culture of collaborative learning
Be an active thought partner for, and collaborate with, the People and Retail Executive Leadership to further the vision of developing talent, fostering employee engagement, and building the technical and leadership capabilities needed to drive our success
Evaluate the effectiveness of Learning and Development solutions, measure return on investment and impact on business readiness
Design and deliver learning strategies in multiple modalities (e.g., virtual and in-person instructor led workshops, self-paced programs, e-learning, blended learning and action and experience-based learning)
Through all of the above, deliver outcomes based on key success metrics (and targets) at program and portfolio level
Who are you
Breadth of experience in needs assessment, instructional design, evaluation tools and techniques, with proven experience in practical application
Platform skills, strong training or performance consultant background
Experience creating innovative and scalable on-boarding experiences
Have implemented measurement programs to understand program impact and inform future decisions about learning and development programs
Inclusive leader and talent builder with history of developing the long-term capabilities of direct reports in a large scale Learning and Development setting and a track record of fostering high performance and high commitment team culture
Have a strong point of view on all aspects of Learning and Development from instructional design to delivery to measurement
Comfortable with and can perform in ambiguous situations. Can navigate in a matrixed organization and create and advance ways of achieving results in a complex environment

Position Summary
As the Director of Retail Learning and Development, you will own the vision and lead the team that drives the Learning agenda for our Retail teams across Walmart’s US eCommerce sites; including Walmart.com, Jet.com, Hayneedle.com, Shoes.com and others.
A pivotal part of Walmart’s strategy is the rapid growth and enablement of our Retail organization. In this role, you will lead the instructional and curriculum design and deliver a learning program that encompasses the onboarding of our Category Specialists, taking into consideration real time changes in the business and driving productivity of all our Retail category team members as they strive to deliver incredible selection, ease, and eCommerce innovation to our customers.
You must possess deep expertise in all aspects of Learning and Development from instructional design and training programs that impact behavior and skill, while also having knowledge of the latest approaches to learning modalities, e.g. micro-learning, directed, self-directed. You will define the entire lifecycle for our Category Specialists, from Day 1 onboarding through ongoing education and measure performance at every step.
You will also partner with the Walmart US People organization to ensure a comprehensive strategy for our US eCommerce Retail organization.
