NetApp is looking to hire a Director, Product Strategy under its CTO Office. The CTO Office is responsible for identifying growth opportunities/markets for NetApp products. It’s a central group across all NetApp Product Operations that, in collaboration with product teams, determines what solutions can be built, partnerships developed or product investments made to achieve longer term market success for NetApp. NetApp has been a strong growth company for the last two decades and we are investing to maintain that strong growth – the CTO Office helps us place appropriate smart bets to succeed. Additionally, the team works closely with the Corporate Development team to analyze changes in the market and new competitors/startups in the Storage space and related areas beyond storage.
A successful Director, Product Strategy team will have the following skills:
- Exceptional proficiency in strategic analysis to a wide range of issues in creative ways to provide impactful insights for major strategy projects and / or corporate development initiatives.
- Ability to lead a team to determine strategic process and approach
- Works collaboratively across NetApp and can drive, motivate and lead virtual teaming projects
- Great executive level interaction and presentation skills
- Ideally a good understanding of the storage market
Job Requirements

- Have an analytical orientation and possess strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated by the ability to structure an issue and analyze alternative solutions. The knowledge of an array of analytical methods, and the ability to deploy the appropriate approach in a timely manner, is critical.
- A creative thinker: Ability to envision new and innovative ideas and approaches and ways to take them to fruition.
- Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills and ability to develop talent and work well with partners, product management and senior level executives
- Ability to evangelize product strategy and market growth opportunity
- Demonstrate a passion for ownership through a track record of successfully achieving results in an ambiguous work environment. Tenacity and resourcefulness are essential.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, Team leader, diplomat, teacher.
- Support an environment that encourages constructive debate in order to reach better outcomes.
- 10-15 years Industry experience.
- 3-5 years corporate strategy work experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm with demonstrable business acumen, analytical ability, and ability to execute projects.
- Storage Industry experience or Data related (Database, Analytics (hadoop, memcached, lustre etc)
experience.
-5+ years of people management experience
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects
Education
BS/BA degree or equivalent related experience. 12+ years -- plus add additional experience requirements needed if you were to fill an open requisition, i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities.
