At LinkedIn, the Director of Photography/Editor is responsible for the production of exclusive short-form video content, including interviews with some of the world’s top business leaders and thinkers, breaking news, and original video products for the India editorial team. The DP partners with and supports LinkedIn editors in the planning and shooting of exclusive premium content, that helps Indian professionals get the news they need to be better at what they do and drives the business conversation.
The Director of Photography/Editor is responsible for managing all aspects of operations for on-site studio and location shoots, in addition to the post-production, mastering and publication of HD broadcast-ready videos in a multimedia-first environment.
The position is based in Bangalore, reporting to LinkedIn’s India managing editor and working closely with a video team based in New York and California.
Partner and support LinkedIn news editors in the planning and shooting of exclusive premium content, including interviews with India’s top business leaders.
Responsible for all stages of video content production from staging, lighting, shooting, and editing through final mastering and distribution encoding.
Responsible for all aspects of recording operations, including setup of camera gear, sound recording equipment, lights, studio backgrounds, and all other production gear in studio and in the field to capture the highest quality video end product within tight production timelines.
Coordinate production techniques in line with news editors and key stakeholders for existing and new content.
Manage media effectively and safely throughout all stages of production, including capture, ingest, editorial, and compression for final delivery and archiving.
Prepare and edit footage (Live action/B-roll/VO/Graphics/Music/SFX) of varying complexities with quick turnarounds, employing editing best practices to produce video content that inspires and engages.
Master final product using video editing software (Premiere Pro), color correction, and audio sweetening techniques through to final export to publication delivery specifications.
Responsible for project management and collaboration with all key stakeholders through each stage of the Production/Post/Publication pipeline (hiring and managing freelance support crew, defining project needs).
Communicate clearly with news editors and key stakeholders at each stage of the review and approval process, driving creation and completion in accordance to publication schedule deadlines.
Work in a fast-paced environment where the demands and directions of the work are constantly changing.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Basic qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in media outlets and news properties; HD Broadcast Production and Post-production workflow in a multimedia-first environment
A minimum of 3 years working with professional lighting & grip gear, and Canon C-Series cameras, with a deep understanding of composition, framing, and exposure best practices
Professional experience with directing talent and leading and managing crew on set
Preferred Qualifications
Strong Macintosh and PC computer skills including troubleshooting and basic networking knowledge in Mac and Windows environments
Superior project and time management capabilities within a fast paced, high productivity environment and a deadline-driven schedule
Knowledge of the processes of HD broadcast production and post-production workflow
Knowledge of video lighting techniques, including studio lighting and field interviews
Knowledge and experience with HD video production control measurements such as vectorscopes, histograms, waveform monitors
Knowledge of use of computers and relevant accessories (e.g. operating teleprompter, working with chroma key)
Knowledge of After Effects graphic template integration with Premiere Pro
Working knowledge of Davinci Resolve color correction software.
Advanced knowledge and ability of video editing practices including experience with using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects)
