The Director, Corporate Affairs – PEH reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Affairs - PEH, and supports the Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) Corporate Affairs Team in developing and implementing a coordinated global corporate affairs strategy. The Director collaborates with all Corporate Affairs functions and PEH leaders (where appropriate) to ensure creation and effective execution of aligned global corporate affairs strategies that leverage cross-functional efforts to support PEH’s business priorities. The Director tracks key outcomes and deliverables for the PEH Corporate Affairs team . He/she will manage projects in partnership with business partners and the Corporate Affairs team. In addition, the Director will help support, coordinate and integrate Business Development initiatives in partnership with the business.
Identify gaps, needs and best practices across Corporate Affairs and develop tools to accelerate the effectiveness of team.
Provide writing and presentation development to VP, PEH Corporate Affairs and members of the PEH Corporate Affairs team, including creating presentations, letters, and other communication materials intended for internal and external audience.
Produce and facilitate briefings on important internal and external meetings and commitments.
Provide creative and strategic input on policy, public affairs and communications platforms for use in all global areas.
Drive the Operating Plan process for Corporate Affairs PEH ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Work with the VP, PEH Corporate Affairs to identify global public policy, government affairs and corporate responsibility opportunities that support bringing value to the business.
Coordinate with other Corporate Affairs functions to ensure alignment across BU initiatives and issues, as appropriate.
Work with global brand teams to identify Corporate Affairs opportunities, provide strategic direction, and set priorities to support the strategic objectives for in-line and pipeline brand assets.
Identify priority global public policy, government affairs and corporate responsibility opportunities to maximize value to the business.
Ensure effects of government, competitor, NGO, and other external action and reaction to brand and drive portfolio strategies and decisions.
Supervise creation of tools to advance policy initiatives for education and advocacy purposes with policymakers and other external groups—e.g., position papers, presentations, model legislation, talking points, etc.
Oversee appropriate opportunities and venues to deliver Pfizer views on priority policy issues, including opportunities for Pfizer executives with a credible voice on such issues.
Coordinate execution of Corporate Affairs initiatives with policymakers/stakeholders/customers to enhance BU value and reputation.
Work with geographic public affairs organizations, including therapeutic area leads, to ensure that strategies are refined and implemented, and that appropriate Pfizer in-market resources are mobilized to enable execution.
Ensure relevant Corporate Affairs colleagues are aligned on the right priorities and coordinated in their support.
Ensure the needs of the brands are built into core product and above-brand strategies and planning and Corporate Affairs colleagues are educated on key business unit challenges.
Work with the PEH Corporate Affairs Team and business partners to help execute Business Development initiatives, including due diligence support, creating aligned corporate affairs plans and coordinating integration efforts.
Ensure Corporate Affairs activities are in compliance with Pfizer policy and legal obligations and that all activities are carried out in the One Pfizer spirit.
Work with Corporate Affairs colleagues to develop and track appropriate metrics to evaluate effectiveness of Corporate Affairs programs.
Work with consultants and vendors to support implementation of public affairs / communications strategies when necessary.
Participates in key meetings for priority areas, as appropriate.
Support ELT executive visits through coordination with global, regional and country teams.
Qualifications
Minimum 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry with significant experience in international public affairs, policy or communications required. Experience in diverse functions enabling insight into the optimal value Corporate Affairs brings to the enterprise is advantageous.
B.A. /B.S. required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
Strong capacity/proven track record for sharp strategic analysis and understanding, including incorporating comms, policy and public affairs components into the strategic analyses that drive business decisions and growth.
Strong project management experience.
Experience with targeted stakeholders strongly preferred.
