We are seeking a one-of-a-kind hybrid leader who blends a sophisticated understanding of media with a proven track record in journalism to help us reinvent brand journalism at HP. As a leader on the Corporate Communications team based in Palo Alto you will be responsible for not only developing our domestic brand journalism offering but helping to establish a Global Center of Excellence that will partner with our offices around the world.
This role will report to the Chief Communications Officer and Head of Global Communications, Brand and Events. In this role you will lead brand journalism including the ongoing design and development of the hp.com newsroom, telling the story of HP that surprises and amazes, and constantly showcasing HP innovation. You will establish the editorial framework that supports these efforts and will serve as criteria for story development.
The brand journalism leader will have the opportunity to assemble an expert team in support of this initiative. The leader will manage all content planning and strategy, content development and distribution. Additionally, in this role you will have oversight of everything that touches brand journalism including how HP works with the leading brand publishers that may develop content on behalf of HP.
The leader will establish best practices such as publishing guidelines and editorial tone. This leader will be the executive editor directing story mining activities that lead to a wide variety of engaging stories making use of diverse formats including but not limited to; video, podcasts, animations and infographics. You will be in charge of telling the HP story from its historical Silicon Valley roots through its current reinvention and beyond.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead pan-HP Brand Journalism
Develop a world-class storytelling engine with HP at its center.
Lead the development, execution and measurement of the HP newsroom
Optimize content in terms of story and format based on analytics
Lead pan-HP narrative and storytelling to support HP’s continued innovation and corporate reputation in areas such as Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion
Direct and lead a world-class team and agency (Edelman)
Manage an in-house team of content creators
Partner with social media within HP
Own strategic media sponsorships that align to HP’s overarching brand journalism strategy
Counsel BU Marketing and worldwide and regional communications on story development for newsroom publication
Ability to quickly set clear priorities, objectives and deliverables on key initiatives with the team and agency partners – driving them through to execution
