Director Executive Communications Hitachi Santa Clara

Hitachi Data Systems is searching for a seasoned and passionate communications leader to develop dynamic strategies and messaging to help drive executive communications for the company. This position will play a key role building and executing thought leadership platforms for senior executives and helping them align and engage with employee audiences during a time of significant transformation. This individual will also be a key contributor on cross-functional change management communications for the company to ensure the success of key initiatives.
Boundless enthusiasm and a passion for learning are essential for this position. She or he must also work independently, with minimal input from leadership, to determine appropriate communications priorities and identify the right channels and audiences for each message. This individual must be able to quickly capture the voice of senior executives; synthesize complex information on diverse subject matter; and integrate data gathered from multiple sources into clear, concise and inspiring communications. The successful candidate will balance proactive guidance and strategy with flawless execution to become a trusted communications advisor to senior leadership. The position will be part of the company’s Global Communications team, reporting to the Sr. Director of Executive and Internal Communications.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and grow a team of professionals charged with providing strategic communications counsel to senior executives.
Partner with senior executives to develop and implement effective communications strategies, including the appropriate channels, cadence and audiences for communications on a wide variety of mission-critical topics.
Establish and proactively drive thought leadership platforms for executives to deliver a strong external voice for the company.
Work with stakeholders in multiple functions to align messaging communications cadence.
Distill complex information into engaging content for presentations and messages to a variety of global audiences.
Lead content planning and development for major employee events such as global town halls and functional all hands meetings.
Collaborate with cross-functional communications and business colleagues proactively to bring the right information and insights into each communication initiative.
Team with communications leads at other Hitachi group companies to ensure alignment and integration on key messages.
Maximize the opportunities for executives to deliver the Hitachi story to a variety of audiences and articulate the company’s vision, mission and key priorities.

Qualifications

Position Requirements
Minimum of 15+ years communications experience with at least 7 years of experience supporting communications for senior technology executives.
Strong business acumen, including the ability to understand and relay complex information about emerging technology trends.
Experience working in a global organization in the technology industry, with insight and sensitivity to cultural influences.
Experience ghostwriting articles and securing keynote speaking opportunities for senior executives.
Ability to build trust and interact with executives with confidence, proactively driving communications outcomes and providing insightful counsel.
Ability to adapt to the unique tone and style of the executive to deliver credible, authentic communications.
Demonstrated ability to create high-quality work with limited guidance from executives, delivering results calmly and with good judgment in a fast-paced, high-stress, heavily matrixed environment.
Superior writing, editing (fluency in AP style preferred) and verbal communication skills.
Strong PowerPoint presentation skills, including ability to illustrate concepts visually.
Self-starter, detail-oriented, proactive, ability to work both independently and in teams.
Strategic and creative thinker with strong attention to detail.
Utmost adherence to confidentiality and business ethics; demonstrates outstanding judgment and discretion.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; master’s degree preferred.
Synthesize and influence cross-functional content development and messaging
Consultative partner who can influence Executive and Sr. level leaders on change management and message development
Past experience in change management.
