The Crackle Programming team is seeking a Director of Acquisitions who is passionate about entertainment and who has experience connecting consumers with long-form content in the ever-changing digital landscape. Primary responsibilities include sourcing, forecasting, negotiating, managing, and evaluating a large volume of licensed movies and TV series across 30+ devices and distribution outlets in assigned regions. This role reports to the VP Programming and Acquisitions.
Lead the overall strategy of evaluating and licensing movies and TV series for ad-supported streaming in multiple territories on multiple platforms
Collaborate with VP and Director of Program Planning to license titles that align with network brand, business strategy, and ROI goals
Provide Programming team and functional teams (Development, PR, Marketing, Distribution, Ad Sales) with deal and title updates for premieres, stunts, and event titles
Drive business growth via new license deals, including audience engagement, and be able to independently aggregate and analyze title performance data to make actionable deal changes related to:
Audience viewing patterns
Video conversion rate
Genre by platform and multiplex channel
Other KPIs as needed
Work closely with Finance, AP, Business Affairs, and Corporate Legal business partners to manage rights, contracts, and invoices to ensure contract and government regulatory compliances
Develop multi-year business plans and supporting strategies
Proactively research acquisition opportunities, craft case studies and forecasts for high-profile opportunities, and fill holes in network schedules to meet ancillary goals
Research primetime competitors and compile ratings information
Collaborate with the Product, IT, and Network Operations teams to lead workflow pipeline solutions through cloud-based software solutions, studio systems, and the Crackle CMS
Understand how licensed titles contribute to network brand to communicate key messages to consumers
Supervise the development and management of on- and off-net copy requests and other editorial deliverables to incorporate key messages to clarify consumer experience and communicate network voice
Strategize with Ad Sales team on sponsorable content packages and branded entertainment opportunities; manage implementation of initiatives with cross-functional teams
Job Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum seven years of experience in acquisitions, program planning, on-air promotions, current series management, or digital content publishing
Established relationships with major studio sales teams and independent distributors
In-depth knowledge of domestic and international entertainment landscapes, including studio library offerings, content windowing, and linear programming strategies
Strategic, detailed, and creative problem-solver who is flexible and can prioritize in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing deadlines
Analytical thinker, capable of translating data into actionable insights that support short- and long-term objectives
Excellent presentation skills
Familiarity with web publishing platforms and content management systems
Superior skills in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint software, as well as Nielsen, Rentrak, ComScore, and Adobe Analytics data
In-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape: linear, SVOD, TVOD – including licensing and original content strategies and budgets
Superior diplomacy skills
