Director Research NBCUniversal Media New York

This position reports to the President and General Manager of WNBC. The Director of Research is responsible for the creation of compelling information and analyses in support of Sales, News and Digital strategies, as well as provide day-to-day management and completion of qualitative and quantitative research studies for NBCUniversal’s flagship station in New York.
Responsibilities

Craft insightful analyses and PowerPoint presentations for news, sales, and station leadership across all platforms (WNBC, COZI, Digital platforms, OOH, etc.)

Recommend research solutions based on specific news, marketing & promotions, sales and finance.

Work with Sales in the development of strategic methods to increase revenue for WNBC,COZI, Digital platforms and OOH

Present WNBC audience and marketplace insights at weekly Manager and Sales meeting

Collaborate with NBC, Telemundo and NSO Research leaders in sharing of best practices client objectives/requirements and act as a liaison with project vendors

Present WNBC audience and marketplace insights at weekly manager and sales meetings

Provide regular sales ratings highlights, competitive qualitative positioning, and market category spending trends to sales team

Provide news leadership with rating trends and utilize Nielsen tools to identify notable opportunities

Manage and/or provide support for all aspects of various quantitative and qualitative primary research projects on every WNBC platform including: survey development, fielding, data analysis, report preparation, and quality control, including data checking and online survey link testing

Collaborate with NBC and Telemundo research colleagues in sharing and implementation of best practices. Specifically, work closely with sister station WNJU on duopoly opportunities.

Perform secondary market research analysis, including online/periodical, syndicated, and trends analysis

Assist with completion of ad hoc requests for research information
Qualifications/Requirements Qualifications/ Requirements

7+ years in the media or market research field with expertise in Nielsen ratings, syndicated products (Simmons, Scarborough), Adobe Analytics and emerging alternative audience measurement tools
Strong Local Television Station Research experience
Skilled at working with diverse data sets to problem solve (i.e., qualitative, quantitative, secondary, institutional knowledge, etc.)
Experience with primary research, including qualitative and quantitative, must be able to interpret with client needs in mind, write clearly, and translate data into insights
Bachelors Degree
