The focus of this role is leading the Accounting team’s effort to build SOX compliance program for our growing and newly public company. As the point person to manage SOX program for Accounting team, the individual will quickly gain broad exposure to the operations of the company – interacting with leaders in finance, accounting, technology, operations and with our external auditor and internal auditor to establish a consistent, repeatable, and sustained SOX approach for Accounting. This role will be based in Scottsdale, AZ or Sunnyvale, CA.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior accounting leadership, internal, and external audit teams to lead, plan, organize and execute the annual SOX compliance program.
Evaluate current business processes and identify process improvements and opportunities to gain efficiencies
Perform risk assessment and lead program management for SOX compliance for Accounting teams
Maintain and improve Accounting SOX process flow charts and relevant SOX documentation to ensure on time delivery with high quality
Provide subject matter expertise to support and ensure proper approach utilized and followed by business and Accounting teams
Assist or lead process-mapping; on-the-spot and formal training for business partners; assist business partners in evaluating possible actions to address deficiencies, as needed
Participate and support in SOX compliance testing performed by internal and external auditors
Requirements:
Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting
CPA designation preferred
Work related experience
8-10+ years of relevant accounting experience
At least 3 years of Big 4 public accounting experience
Specialized knowledge/Qualifications
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and related experience with accounting research and application;
Auditing skills, with in-depth experience with SOX 404 risk assessment, testing, and internal control evaluation
Experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams;
Highly detail oriented and organized in work;
Ability to act and operate independently and develop practical solutions;
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results;
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Visio
