IT Global Operations Program Director Medtronic Mounds View

Provide program leadership and direction across Global IT on multi-year, complex, large-scale, high-risk strategic initiatives, where program success/failure would have a significant impact on business and company targets. Specifically, this position will have direct responsibility for all programs directed at Cloud Based application services. In this capacity this position will be accountable for Operational Excellence and consumption of Cloud based services that have global impact. Has direct responsibility for program design, planning, budgeting, implementation, and outcomes of Shared Service operational programs. Accomplishes results through program managers, cross-functional teams, and vendors and collaborates with leaders across the organization.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
Provide leadership, through strategic direction and active engagement to align the Global IT functions and priorities with the Technical Operations imperatives.
Collaboration with business, geographic and functional leaders to support business activities and strategies. Teams are generally comprised of personnel from various corporate and/or business unit functional departments, including finance, tax, legal, human resources, operations, research & development, clinical, sales, marketing, information technology, quality, and regulatory.
Contribute to the assessment of business risk and reward in the diligence phases of business development.
Assess program requirements, manage to completion, identifying and managing resources, preparing and presenting proposals and recommendations to executive management.
Manage the development of global strategies, standards and process improvements. Provide guidance to subordinate leaders and staff to ensure successful completion of objectives.
Foster a Client Service culture through active engagement, leadership and the creation of a strong sense of accountability within the IT Operations team and Global IT.

Resource Management:
Direct the planning and utilization of resources related to Global IT processes, programs and key priorities.
Manage issues associated with strategy and project interdependence, resource allocation, financial management and change management across the BD portfolio.
Partner with key business stakeholders to understand and define requirements, justification and secure approvals for investment decisions, and personnel and other resources required to meet business needs.
Partner with IT leadership to forecast, secure and allocate personnel to approved and budgeted projects utilizing methods which strike balance between the priorities of the business and Global IT, project requirements and staff development. Provide proactive feedback to allocated resources and current processes.
Develop, plan, manage, and forecast associated unit costs, employee complement, capital expenditures, and charge back rates.
Ensure that Medtronic's systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Medtronic's Information Protection Policies and Standards, as well as best Information Protection practices.
Establish, interpret, execute and recommend modifications to policies. Partner to develop group, company/corporate-wide policies. Ensure governance, compliance, and regulatory processes are followed.

Innovation:
Contribute to and cultivate a culture which promotes the development of business process design, and shared best practice execution.
Stay current on Medtronic business plans and strategies, global technology trends, MDT IT strategies, Medical Device industry, products & services, and broader industry trends.
Gather, review, assess and partner to drive new ideas, initiatives and projects through innovation, demand and global portfolio processes.

Individual Accountabilities:
Drive partnerships and strengthen relationships for the IT Technical Operations area.
Provide coaching and mentoring to the dotted-line global team.
Collaborate with other IT stakeholders (GTC members, IT Leadership /Process Teams, IT Operations leaders, IT Business Strategy Leaders) to expedite and improve decision-making.
Evaluate, negotiate, develop, and manage preferred vendor relationships in collaboration with strategic sourcing to provide Medtronic with the highest value, lowest overall cost with highest quality service globally. Monitor vendor delivery performance and ensure delivery of quality of services to meet Medtronic needs.
Identify and assess opportunities and risks of proposed transactions, including operational and integration synergies and issues.
Serve as a focal point with third parties, lawyers, Corporate Development Directors, Medtronic Business Units, and functional resources in support of I&O projects.
Participate in negotiation processes in cooperation with Corporate Development.
Present proposed transactions to appropriate decision-making management groups.
Participate in the analysis and due diligence processes, including coordination of Medtronic functional and business unit personnel.
Lead the IT due diligence processes required by the business.
Assess program/project requirements and secure necessary personnel and information resources for the team.
Lead, facilitate, and participate on teams to successfully complete approved transactions.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
12+ yrs of IT experience

SPECIALIZED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
Experience with the Cloud

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of broad business knowledge and experience
2+ years experience in the Medical industry
3-5 years of experience leading/managing direct or indirect employees in a matrix organization
5+ years IT Program / Project Management experience
Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
Strong understanding of MDT IT environment (process, application, data, infrastructure)
Business focused leadership with ability to turn business process requirements into IT deliverables
Strong business acumen and communication skills
