Develops, implements, and achieves the vision of the joint relationship between the Company and the strategic alliance customer to ensure long term growth and profitability. Ensures the Company and the customer interact appropriately and effectively and becomes a champion within the Company for strategic customer accounts. Facilitates cross-functional and cross Business Unit approach to deliver services to the strategic account, and manages a range of customers dependent on the size and value of the relationship. Customer assignment will be aligned with Director level experience.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops strong and positive relationships with a broad range of customers and internal stakeholders.
2. Creates value in the strategic alliance through open collaboration both internally and externally and demonstrates the value added to the customer.
3. Change agent who demonstrates actions that support and influence customer responses.
4. Maintains a positive, results orientated work environment while building alliance account partnerships through teamwork and communicating in an open, balanced, and objective manner.
5. Constructs, communicates, and presents the appropriate Company services to meet customer needs and provides strategic advice to customers.
6. In collaboration with the Therapeutic Business Units (TBUs), Business Development, and senior Strategic Alliance leadership identifies, prepares, and coaches Bid Defense teams to be in line with the strategic customer requirements.
7. Ensures a consistent approach and experience for strategic customers across the TBUs and Functional BUs as well as with legal, finance, and contractual interactions.
8. Reduces complex situations into simple and understandable segments and introduces strategies and solutions that can be implemented to drive change.
9. Creates governance models and structures in collaboration with senior Strategic Alliance leadership to suit the needs of the strategic account. Manages the strategic partnership governance structure and supports meetings through collection, analysis, and presentation of data.
10. Ensures an established set of rates (if present) are used correctly in costing work for the customer and invoicing processes are organized and adhered to.
11. Develops a new business model for drug development with the customer to meet their specific needs including forecasting resource needs, establishing durable processes for scalability of the model, and establishing metrics to demonstrate operational efficiencies of this model.
12. Works comfortably and effectively within difficult and complex customer situations.
13. Reviews and provides strategic input on study proposals. Participates as a primary source of operational and partnership/relationship level detail in the budgeting and strategic overview portions of the proposal.
14. Liaison and facilitator between the Company’s Strategic Alliance department and clinical business units for strategic alliance related tasks and/or issues. Plans and negotiates resources with line management of functional areas.
15. Supports Business Development strategies for award and market share growth via customer presentations, collation of pertinent study conduct information, and networking.
16. Actively mentors staff in general team leadership skills, customer management skills, project management skills, and internal company processes.

Qualifications
Requirements:
BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive leadership experience preferably in a worldwide clinical research, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company. Comprehensive management skills and experience including, but not limited to, short and long-term planning, evaluation, directing and motivating staff, marketing, and financial management. Thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, drug development, and clinical project management procedures is necessary. Flexible and able to recruit and mentor new staff and handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines while delivering high quality work in a dynamic environment. Must be able to act with urgency to remove barriers that hinder productivity and make timely and effective decisions by applying scientific, operational, and financial acumen to deliver results. Requires the ability to comfortably discuss a broad range of topics with the customer and within the Company. Experience developing and setting corporate plans and objectives that support the Organization’s worldwide drug development processes while making critical decisions related to changing the direction of the business is essential. Must have a record of engaging diverse interests for the common good. Must be adept at marketing and have the ability to communicate and work with a diverse group of individuals to accomplish common goals. Membership and/or affiliations with applicable professional organizations related to the Company’s business are highly preferred. Highly effective strategic planning, communication, written, presentation, and analytical skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and voicemail is required. Experience working in a matrix team environment is preferred.
