Director- IS Business Partner of Global R&D will serve as a strategic partner and primary point of contact between the Information Services (IS) organization and the global R&D Leadership team, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and information technology solution providers. The director will be expected to build strong collaborative relationships with division R&D leadership and teams; guide the division R&D to meet strategic objectives by providing information knowledge and expertise to department heads and process owners in identifying opportunities for technology and prioritizing initiatives; address problems and issues in the IS operations affecting R&D, prepare, define, and monitor IS projects to address R&D needs; and manage alignment of project deliverables with R&D requirements throughout the project and delivery life cycle.
Essential duties & responsibilities: (detailed description)
Drive Information Services and Technology value creation and customer satisfaction for the global R&D teams in Stryker
Build and maintain strong relationships with division R&D leadership and act as a liaison between IS and the R&D organizations globally.
Ability to learn and understand business requirements, issues and processes to articulate the context of projects and processes in business terms
Participate in the development of business and IS strategic plans
Conduct meetings and interviews with stakeholders and facilitate cross-functional sessions to define and document high-level business requirements and project scope
Lead collaborative efforts for business case development
Positively challenge and question business partners on needs and benefits
Charter and prioritize program and project initiatives in conjunction with division leadership
Assist in the development of metrics used to track value delivery
Identify opportunities where conflicts/synergies/redundancies exist between business capabilities and systems to improve IT effectiveness
Contribute to the budgeting process and lead and recommend CERs for divisional IS projects
Liaise with other IS stakeholders in project management, architecture and governance to ensure alignment and ensure a smooth integration of process output with the rest of the IS/IT environment
Manage external resources: from finalization of deals with external vendors within authorized budgets (cost and time) to monitor implementation resources and recommending any necessary corrective actions.
Lead, engage and develop team of business analysts, project managers and/or other IS resources
Communicate on projects by issuing regular status updates and managing communication within team, IS organization and R&D and stakeholders
Advice R&D on emerging technology trends, identify areas of opportunity and collaborate on topics of value for Stryker including trends, processes, methodologies and security
Perform other duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications
Education & special trainings:
Bachelor’s Degree in R&D engineering or the equivalent required
Master’s degree in R&D engineering required
15+ years of professional work experience in IS and R&D engineering required

Experience:

Experience with Stryker core systems and processes a plus.
