The HR Lead develops a clear understanding of the business strategy, operating plans and capability needs of Worldwide Safety within Worldwide Research & Development (WRD). This role will partner with leaders to develop and execute organization and talent plans that drive culture change, build leadership capabilities and improve organizational effectiveness. Areas of focus include: organization structure and design, workforce planning, understanding and shaping culture, and effective leadership development practices.
This role will directly support the SVP of Worldwide Safety and his organization (1500+ colleagues in 60 markets). Pfizer’s Worldwide Safety organization is responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of pharmacovigilance - monitoring, evaluating and reporting patient effects for all Pfizer products in clinical development and on the market. This role will also collaborate with the Sr. Director, HR Lead for Worldwide Safety & Regulatory and Drug Safety R&D to support other functions and programs across Drug Safety R&D. Drug Safety R&D is responsible for the nonclinical safety aspects of Pfizer’s portfolio from idea through loss of exclusivity.
Responsibilities
• Understand the respective business across Worldwide Safety and Drug Safety R&D, and drive key human capital strategies that support the business objectives;
• Provide individual and function leadership presence as a member of the WW Safety Leadership Team ensuring linkage between organization, business and people strategies;
• Work with the leaders to develop and implement optimal organizational structure to accomplish business objectives and leverage talent;
• Work with business leaders to drive engagement and culture, executing against the WRD strategy;
• Ensure the leadership team is high performing - adapting as business needs change, and coaching and developing leaders to drive business objectives;
• Lead change by developing and implementing a structured approach to change enabling organizational transition and strengthening Pfizer culture; provide advice, counsel and direction to leaders in the planning, initiation and follow-through on change initiatives, anticipating and managing challenges and ensuring achievement of objectives;
• Drive an organization talent plan which enables development of key colleagues in alignment with business needs
• Develop a workforce plan linked to strategic direction of the business including needs analysis and plans to address future requirements through the development of internal talent and sourcing of external talent.
• Build and sustain collaborative relationships across HR and other partner lines to ensure clear communication and effective, well-coordinated execution.
• Partner effectively with the HR CoEs, HR Business & Operations Support, and other HR enterprise organizations to ensure alignment with HR processes/programs in the business.
Qualifications
• BA in HR or a related field required; an MBA or Masters in HR advantageous.
• 10-12 years direct HR experience in a business partnering role, preferably in the Pharmaceutical and/or R&D or related businesses (e.g., Medical Devices, Healthcare, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders to develop, implement and measure HR programs that make a difference for the business.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and to take accountability
• Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrated success in driving change in a highly matrixed and complex global organization
• Excellent knowledge in organizational design, change management, talent management, strategic and operational planning.
