The Director of Global Communications will report directly to the Vice President of Global Communications and manage and execute strategic brand publicity and communications campaigns for Universal Brand Development. The role spans a variety of duties including developing strategic PR campaigns, working with licensees and partners in our CP, Digital Platforms and Games, and Live Entertainment business teams, amplifying publicity opportunities using theatrical synergy, consumer media relations with lifestyle, entertainment, licensing, and B2B trade media.

Ideal candidate will have entertainment/media company background with a strong emphasis working in consumer products and large brand/franchise expertise. Must be able to work independently and strategically drive creative brand campaigns and manage multiple projects concurrently. This is a full-time, in-house role working in Universal’s Los Angeles headquarters. Domestic and international travel may be required, pending needs.

Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing, overseeing and executing comprehensive brand communications campaigns supporting entertainment brands and franchises amplified across the department’s business units: Consumer Products, Digital and Games Platforms, and Live Entertainment.
Oversee brand/franchise annual communications’ plans for Universal’s portfolio of properties.
Supervise and direct outside PR agencies and manage results and ROI
Work with multiple CP franchise licensees to maximize results and synergy
Create innovative PR campaigns activating consumer PR opportunities across a variety of media targets
Manage integrated consumer publicity activities for tent-pole launches: create narrative and amplify across all channels (owned, earned, paid).
Identify and spearhead promotional opportunities from publicity partnerships to product giveaways for portfolio
Work collaboratively with theatrical publicity, brand marketing, promotions and cross-enterprise functions to support franchise launch strategies.
Expected to stay abreast of and monitor the competitive editorial landscape and have a strong knowledge of industry trends – Consumers, CP and Games
Actively participate in brainstorming strategy sessions with members of the Brand Marketing team
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in consumer brand public relations and communications, some of which must be in consumer products, entertainment, or large CP franchise brands
Minimum of 5-7 years in an enterprise communications department or at a PR agency
Solid editorial relationships with key members of the press (consumer, lifestyle, and social influencers)
Direct experience overseeing large brand, or entertainment licensed CP communications
Proven success at creating and executing innovative, strategic publicity campaigns for large brands
Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
Bachelors Degree Required
Must be able to travel as the needs of the business dictate
