Reporting to the VP of Logistics, the Director of Distribution is responsible for the overall activity and performance of regional distributions centers, plant distribution centers and agent warehouses in North America. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to financial accountability, team development, leadership development and succession planning. Responsible for development/implementation of practices, policies, and procedures to keep the organization positioned to support customer needs in order to profitably grow the business.
Oversees Distribution Center operations, activities and performance across multiple sites including space and equipment utilization, facility layout, capacity and staff planning.
Accountable for creating an empowered safety culture and shared responsibility for the implementation safety initiatives across distribution sites.
Develops and implements “best in class" distribution strategies to increase value through the lens of the customer.
Accountable for creating a culture of continuous improvement leveraging LEAN logistics and six sigma tools / practices.
Establishes / refines processes with 3rd party providers specific to quality and performance.
Establishes and monitors metrics and key performance indicators across all distribution sites.
Develops departmental business plans, processes and budgets which enhance distribution network productivity and efficiency.
Establishes, plans and implements employee engagement programs enabling a culture of teamwork.
Liaisons with other departments to convey information to and from the distribution centers which impact order processing and shipments to customers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, operations management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
APICS certification preferred
Lean Six Sigma Certification Preferred
10+ years managing multiple high volume warehouses with FTL / LTL operations and optimizing for best practices and industry leading key performance indicators
5+ years of LEAN experience
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) – Proficient understanding of warehouse management systems, their configurations, optimization and functionality to support the company’s distribution network (coupled with end to end Supply Chain operational processes).
WMS implementation experience (preferred)
TMS implementation experience (preferred)
Experience in successfully managing 3PL’s
Ability to work in a team oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.

Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
Track record of developing and implementing change that positively impacts company performance.
