The Director, Sales, is a member of an account team for one of Nielsen’s most unique Media Verticals--dedicated to the needs of new and emerging cable and satellite TV distributors. This particular role will focus on finding new potential users of data, analysis and insights, building relationships, uncovering new revenue opportunities and closing sales across a wide range of departments at our core client companies—Comcast, Charter, DISH, Cox, AlticeUSA.
This role will require knowledge of a wide range of Nielsen’s products, their purpose and value propositions for this unique client set with an emphasis on strategic solutions to help their marketing and product groups. In this role, the Director, Sales will have specific revenue goals and will work closely across the team and related departments such as Product Leadership and Media Analytics to close business. The role provides the opportunity to develop long-term, deep relationships and knowledge of the strategic information needs for a small set of clients. The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated track record driving commercial, solutions-oriented growth, building and honing key relationships both internally and externally, delivering robust presentations and client communications, adapting to the needs of a dynamic, ever-changing environment, and developing key contacts in the media industry.

Job Responsibilities

Partner with leadership within the client vertical/team to develop a comprehensive and achievable strategic plan for new business across the core companies in the Vertical, with emphasis on new relationships inside these companies.
Maintain and manage a revenue pipeline.
Build trust-based relationships with senior leaders at the client; independently build deeper and wider relationships within and across client organization by building a comprehensive understanding of client and marketplace and leveraging prior experience and client solutions acumen.
Present opportunities to help clients grow their business through consultative selling and solid negotiating skills; grow Nielsen revenue through product and solutions sales to new departments within established clients.
Conduct client meetings to build and maintain relationships.
Act as an internal champion for the client by working collaboratively with internal partners and the team to coordinate efforts for clients where new solutions musts be developed.
Articulate an excellent understanding of each product and solution, and how the data can be used to improve business performance.
Attend client- and industry-specific meetings.
Indirectly manage the project work and the mentoring of more junior talent on the team when appropriate.
Engage in other responsibilities as needed.


5-7 years’ client service experience with specific experience within Media (TV & Digital)
BA or BS Degree
Experience managing client relationships
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Strongly desired skills
Understanding of the marketplace
Understand media analytics in a way that you can easily communicate with clients
Analytic skills
Knowledge of TV/Digital Industries
Knowledge of Nielsen’s productions and solutions
High attention to detail
Strong Interpersonal skills, highly motived, strong orientation toward client relationships
Strong analysis and presentation experience
Persuasive negotiation skills to ensure client needs are well balanced internally and externally
Excellent communication skills to translate complex concepts into concise yet informative messaging for clients
Ability to handle pressure, juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and work well with a diverse customer base and various internal teams
