Digitalization Development Manager Factory Automation Siemens Charlotte

This position combines management (50%) and business development (50%) functions within a group focused on launching and growing Siemens Factory Automation’s digitalization initiative in the USA. The group works in a matrixed organization consisting of other business unit teams that are implementing a division-wide initiative in digitalization. In the manager function, the position develops and executes strategies and tactics within the Factory Automation business unit to drive our product revenues in PLCs, HMIs, Industrial PCs and SCADA systems within the division-wide digitalization initiative. In the business development function, the position acts as a business developer engaged in customer-facing activities to target, develop and close specific digitalization opportunities. The position requires management skills, technical expertise as a subject matter expert, business development skills and significant prospect and customer interactions.
This position reports to the Factory Automation Business Unit’s Director of Business Development for Products and Systems. The position manages a remote team of business developers with dotted-line management to application engineer resources. This is a new group within the business development team; one of the first functions of this position will be to build his/her team of business developers.

Responsibilities
Responsible for new and strategic business development in the Factory Automation segment (PLCs, HMIs, Industrial PCs and SCADA) in regards to the Siemens Digitalization initiative. This role has strategic, tactical, and operations level responsibilities.
Works with headquarters functions and other business units to create differentiated value propositions by leveraging the complete portfolio of Siemens products, solutions and services
In cooperation with the existing channel management organizations, develops and executes partner and solution strategy specific to digitalization
Supports the Siemens and channel sales forces with the digitalization initiative, including message development, training, business development activities, and opportunity development through closure
Acquires new customers through digitalization business development initiatives
Assists in and drives existing customers’ adaptions of digitalization strategies
Increases Siemens’ market share in new business segments using the digitalization Initiative
For the business development functions: while the position typically starts customer activities based on the region where the position is located, once engaged with a customer, the position will engage in the sales process throughout that customer’s USA locations. There may be cases where even the initial assignment is outside of the home region. Travel is expected to be almost completely domestic, and at 50% to 60%.
Monitor and improve the execution and effectiveness of digitalization programs



Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


Successful demonstration of Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above
10+ years of successful experience in a directly related industrial automation field
Team management experience
Field experience with automation including PLCs, HMIs, Industrial PCs, SCADA and MES
Good understanding of Siemens product portfolio (motion control, factory automation, networking and RFID, MES and PLM software)
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
