The Business & Resource Planning Analyst is responsible for providing business process management and leadership for Business Development deal assessments in support of Worldwide Safety & Regulatory (WSR) and Global Product Development (GPD) operations. Responsible for overseeing and contributing to the timely preparation and delivery of resource/cost assessments for WSR and GPD work requirements associated with new business opportunities, including project in-licensing, acquisitions, collaborations, divestitures, etc. The BP Lead additionally partners with Operations CoE leadership and Finance to secure additional budget to support WSR and/or GPD resourcing of new incremental work requirements resulting from executed Business Development deals.
In the area of Resource Management, the Business & Resource Planning Analyst partners with the RMP Resource Management Team Leads to deliver high-quality resource demand forecast data and insights in support of the annual Operating Plan for the WSR and GPD business lines. Drives the delivery of complex data-driven resource analyses by portfolio segment to ensure organizational work and resource requirements in support of the Research, Development and Commercial portfolios are properly planned and understood to facilitate informed decision-making and allocation of resources based on business priorities. Contributes to the achievement of business strategies and goals by partnering with applicable WSR and GPD business leaders to further enhance operational performance through effective forecasting, planning and management of organizational resources.
Responsibilities
• Partners with CoE Business Development Deals Management (BDDM), CoE RAPID Model Support (RMS) and Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) representatives to prepare/deliver RAPID generated resource and cost forecasts for WSR and GPD organizations in support of Pfizer Worldwide Business Development project valuations and decision making. Ensures requisite baseline business driver input is provided to facilitate RAPID produced forecasts for WSR and GPD.
• Independently prepares/delivers Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for WSR and GPD business lines for potential Business Development deals in pre-Due Diligence phase. Applies business knowledge and technical/functional expertise to develop cost estimates with minimal information on project work specifications for Business Development opportunity.
• Collaborates with CoE leadership and Finance to facilitate the timely receipt of additional WSR and/or GPD budget to support the resourcing of new incremental project work requirements resulting from executed Business Development deals.
• Analyzes portfolio segmentations (e.g., WRD, Business Category, Therapeutic Area, Phase, Funding Source, Activity Status, etc.) of WSR and GPD resource estimates and provides insights and potential solutions to resource related challenges.
• Provide consistent, standardized reporting for Resource Management through multiple applications (e.g., Spotfire, Business Objects, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.). Provide in-depth analysis and insights to support resource decision making, as required.
• Utilizes business-specific portfolio and project information in the RAPID system to facilitate portfolio and resource planning reviews for WSR and GPD in support of the annual Operating Plan.
• Participates on multidisciplinary teams and specialty councils (e.g., RAPID Standards & Business Process Team, PEH Data Alignment Forum, etc.) to continuously evolve and improve business processes, systems, tools, etc. relating to resource planning and management.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced academic qualification and/or degree (e.g., MS or MBA) is preferred.
Prior Experience/Attributes Preferred
• Prior experience of 14-19 years (with Bachelors); 12-17 years (with Masters); or 10-15 years (with PhD) in pharmaceutical industry in a business management or program management support capacity. Possesses demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical drug development process and Pfizer operating model.
• Experience and working knowledge of project, resource and budget management application systems in a business environment.
• Knowledge and experience with external best-practices and perspectives to support new approaches and strategies. Demonstrated ability to effectively implement tools and techniques in the project and resource management discipline.
• Strong influencing and team skills, including demonstrated experience in leading and/or contributing to successful projects. Proven ability to negotiate, influence and problem solve.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritize multiple demands under pressure. Ability to prioritize and effectively work under tight timelines.
