Academic Curriculum Director TIME Education New York

The Curriculum Director will be charged with helping shape the next evolution of Time Education to continue growth and adoption of the product portfolio.

You will:
Draw upon knowledge of K-12 education climate to help drive product delivery and development standards; lead refinement of educational standards alignment and readability measures strategy.
Partner with editorial team to ensure that content and instructional resources address stated educational mission and align with criteria.
Understand, implement, and educate staff about a variety of readability measures (e.g., Lexile, Quantile, Fountas & Pinnell) to ensure that market requirements are met, and that leveling of text is appropriate and scaffolded.
Provide guidance on in-product summative and formative assessments.
Guide editorial staff (and freelance) in altering instructional collateral to meet DoK levels and the various curriculum standards (national and state) needed to create quality activities, assessments, and guided teacher resources.
Provide pre-publishing review and quality control of instructional collateral as needed to ensure that all products are aligned with current standards and assessment strategies and formats, including scaffolding.
Identify and collaborate with knowledgeable content area-specific experts, when appropriate, to aid with assessments, standards alignments, and adapting TIME Education products to meet appropriate market requirements for a top supplemental product.
Stay abreast of market trends and competitive products to improve TIME Education products to grow market share, and identify new business opportunities in the education industry.
Key contributor to meeting customer acquisition targets, product development needs and setting a strategic vision to drive brand profitability.
You have:

Minimum BA degree and 10-years of experience writing or editing to a variety of PK-12 curriculum standards
Demonstrated knowledge of CCSS in ELA and Math, as well as state standards and their implementation
Demonstrated knowledge of NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards) and how they are being implemented at the state level
Demonstrated knowledge of NCSS and state Social Studies standards
Demonstrated experience with current assessments, and knowledge of test specifications and construction of current summative assessments such as PARCC, Smarter Balanced, and key state exams, grades PK – 12
Demonstrated experience with current formative assessment strategies (especially scaffolding,) formats, and clusters, etc. and data needs of classroom educators
Demonstrated ability to identify appropriate alignment and assessment strategies for other standards, e.g. for ELL’s
Demonstrated ability to self-educate in content areas that are not the prime area of expertise
Thorough understanding of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge as implemented in educational materials and classrooms, as well as other measures and constructs used to define level of rigor for varying content areas, PK-12
Thorough understanding of Webb’s DoK as implemented in assessments, both summative and formative
Thorough understanding of scaffolding strategies in all content areas in curriculum materials and assessments
Classroom experience or curriculum leadership role in a school or district a plus
Curriculum writing and assessment creation experience a plus
Participation in district or state standards and assessment review groups or committees a plus
Participation in creating curriculum to implement new standards and assessments a plus
Ability to understand and unpack standards’ differences among states
Ability to adapt quickly and hit the market appropriately when new assessments and standards occur
Ability to work collegially and productively as a team with editorial, marketing and management leadership to create market-driven product and a culture of shared goals to increase revenues and market share
Ability to build a positive culture in the midst of transition
Ability to quickly identify and effectively (and cost-effectively) utilize leaders in the field and implement their approaches.
Ability to travel on rare occasions.
