The Supply Chain Team has the responsibility for identifying supply chain solutions that allow Building 8 to deliver products to market at scale. As the leader of the Sourcing Team, you will be focused on leading the team to develop a continuous supply of sourced goods and raw materials to support Building 8 products. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. We believe the leadership of the Sourcing team is extremely complex and it has to be undertaken by someone who is capable of understanding markets, the supply chain, all the various commodities, and how the business works. It is about far more than simply leading a team in ‘managing commodities’ it is about creating a strategic sourcing plan with our partners, mitigating risks, making sure the company survives extreme volatility in commodities and about integrating all the different roles within a company. Responsible for the strategic sourcing and contracting of all direct and indirect materials and global service providers for Building 8.
Leads the development and execution of global sourcing strategies to reduce costs and improve supplier performance in delivery, quality, and cost.
Oversees activities related to supplier evaluation, selection and supplier management.
Manages and reduces risks associated with supply base. Establishes policies and procedures for global direct and indirect sourcing and supplier selection.
Effectively manages the departments resources and budget to meet business objectives.
Contributes to the creation of a high performance culture through effective leadership and collaboration with internal stakeholders
Mentors and coaches a highly experienced team of senior commodity managers
Research potential suppliers and compare their products, prices, and services as an opportunity to have alternative suppliers and competitive pricing
Develop and implement strategies to create an efficient supply chain and reduce commodity purchase costs
Work to minimize supplier risk by establishing strategies for risk evaluation and prepare solutions
Frequently communicates with, and visits suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish the appropriate commercial framework for Facebook Building 8 needs and to relay the required processes for doing business with Facebook
Minimum Qualifications
Procurement experience within a manufacturing environment, Lean Experience as it relates to gauging suppliers
Spectrum of negotiation experience
Experience in Microsoft office suite software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience with teams developing ERP systems
University BS or MS in supply chain
Analytical background including experience with tools such as Excel & Access
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of the risks and opportunities associated with global Sourcing, particularly internationally
Understanding of overall systems interactions of all electronic and mechanical technologies
Planning, organization, and leadership skills, including managing global cultural differences.
Ability & experience interfacing at all levels of the organization, interactions with VP level and above
Ability to articulate vision and convey a sense of urgency
Ability & willingness to work in a matrix organization with direct & indirect reporting relationships
10+ years of experience in a sourcing/purchasing and/or purchasing-related role in a manufacturing environment
Developed business acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, and process engineering and re-engineering skills.
Demonstrated experience as a “thought leader” – sought after for advice, counsel and judgment.
Experience in hiring, developing, retaining and coaching staff.
CPIM or equivalent designation
