The Global Mobility Tax Manager in Facebook’s Global Mobility (GloMo) team partners cross functionally to provide strategic direction and is accountable for all Global Mobility tax program experiences delivered by the People@ team. The GloMo Tax Manager will balance creating and maintaining visionary, industry-leading programs while continuing to scale our programs with company growth and address unique and complex tax challenges at the corporate and individual level. They will lead a team of direct and indirect partners to deliver quality, solution-focused customer service to employees, managers and core business stakeholders.

Strategic areas of focus will include, but not limited to, mobile employee tax, compensation/payroll as related to employee movement, emerging market and M&A planning for mobile employees, corporate secondment structuring, equity tax compliance and planning, accruals/budgets and overall cost tracking and containment. The ideal candidate requires significant previous experience in managing in-house mobility tax programs and/or expatriate income tax preparation and broad-based mobility tax consulting with specific emphasis on complicated equity tax and business traveler scenarios. They should also have experience leading related projects, e.g., internal controls, cost accounting, global equity planning, relocation, immigration or other areas. This position reports to the Director, Global Mobility and is based in our Menlo Park, CA headquarters.
Responsibilities

Own all aspects of the mobile employee tax experience (income tax, social security, equity tax, global compensation reporting, business travelers, etc.).
Partner with equity programs, corporate tax, finance, payroll and legal to develop compliant mobility tax policies, practices and processes and scale these through our operations team.
Refresh the tax programs experience vision and continuously build and iterate.
Own and influence tax vendor relationships to align to company and program long term strategic goals.
Mentor teams responsible for vendor management and delivery of education sessions, materials, seminars, Q&A’s, etc.
Create business alignment and trusted advisor status with key stakeholders to manage all complex and nuanced tax exceptions and escalations with minimal friction to employees and stakeholders.
Train and mentor staff that deliver internal high level cross border tax impact briefings to employees (not deliver formal tax advice).
Contribute and/or lead significant cross functional projects focused on equity tax, business travelers, global cross charges, corporate secondment agreements, international expansion, mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits tax, payroll and compensation.
Collaborate with People Operations team to grow shared services resources that assist employees and managers with advanced tax, payroll and equity transaction questions, identify training opportunities for handling of Tier 1 & 2 issues at shared services level.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, human resources, international diplomacy or related fields.
15+ years of global mobility tax experience.
Experience in equity tax, global compensation reporting, mobility payroll processes, business traveler programs, including systems, vendors, in-house processes and related operations. Ability to drive technical projects and planning to successful conclusion.
Ability to influence at all levels of organization and experience influencing and driving implementation of company-wide changes.
Attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to build and scale teams and plan strategically 3+ years out as well as formalize tangible multi-tiered action plans to operationalize vision.
Demonstrated ability to influence vendor strategy and operations supporting company goals.
Experience owning confidential situations and data that requires 100% data privacy and security.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Customer service skills and proven ability to perform in fast-paced environment.
Communication skills and ability to handle sensitive matters with tact, diplomacy and ability to not make it personal.
Ability to work independently and require little instruction on the day-to-day work.
Computer skills including with MS Office applications – especially MS Excel including the ability to create pivot reports, v-lookups and charts/graphs.
Available for domestic and international travel if needed (tentatively up to 5 - 10% of time).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience both in corporate in-house positions as well as consulting/accounting firms.
Self-starter and fast learner requiring minimal directions.
Ability to work and thrive in a team environment to achieve goals.
