BRI is looking to hire a Content Developer and Manager to lead its global content creation and publishing activities. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of BRI. The position will have accountability and focus on content idea generation, sourcing, development (research) and execution for our various retirement-related platforms and businesses on a global basis. More broadly, as a part of a small team, this individual should be able to contribute to the overall growth and communication of this relatively new capability at BlackRock.

The candidate will have a passion for the topic of retirement and longevity and a strong desire to advance thought leadership ideas and actions by contributing their own views, as well as eliciting those of BlackRock employees and key influencers, e.g., public policy makers, academics, think tank experts. The individual will be comfortable and experienced in building new capabilities and drawing on the resources within a global, matrixed organization. He / She must be able to effectively partner and frequently communicate with our key businesses groups to ensure strong alignment on priorities and content development. Key business functions requiring close connectivity include channel and digital marketing, sales, public relations, product strategy and portfolio management.

This individual is responsible for defining the editorial calendar, content marketing and messaging, and ultimately for creating a steady flow of education, thought leadership, research and trending retirement and longevity topics. The communication platforms includes a wide range of media, e.g., web, blog, email campaigns, video scripts, social media, thought-leadership articles, presentations, webinars and events.

Scope of Responsibility
Support the content strategy and set / manage editorial agenda, ensuring content sourcing and production / writing remains on brand, on schedule and consistent with the firm’s overall retirement strategy and messaging
Assist in BRI’s business expansion and brand development efforts including representation at internal and external events and meetings
Identify and undertake (or manage if external) research to support new content creation
Lead the monthly Retirement Content meeting and help develop other editorial and publishing processes as new platforms and capabilities are built (or expanded from existing sources)
Evaluate all possible distribution channels to ensure maximum brand awareness and exposure including our own web channels, sales groups, social media, PR, third-party partnership and co-marketing
Take ownership for the creation, editing and collaboration of material / articles distributed on behalf of BRI including 3rd party authors
Continually test content formats and distribution channels to determine the optimal approach to reaching BlackRock’s target markets and maximize value proposition
Ensure effective communication throughout the content development process
Curate and repurpose existing content into new forms including blog posts, emails, podcasts, videos, Slideshare, infographics and eBooks
Keep a pulse on our competitor’s efforts and marketing content to ensure the sustainability of our unique global positioning
Background and Experience
Understanding of the financial services industry and specifically the retirement industry (globally) to help drive value proposition through delivery of education, thought leadership, and investment topics
Writing / Editorial experience with an eye toward being able to create and critique compelling and innovative content
Experience working with content creation and publishing processes that scale
Exceptional analytical and research skills with a strong detail-orientation
A proven track record of optimizing content source, type and channel to drive deeper engagement
Creative and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a “start-up” environment with the associated level of ambiguity
Understanding and appreciation of working collaboratively with sales, marketing and product teams to deliver an outstanding experience for clients and prospects
Strong writing skills and experience working with senior thought leaders in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with social and public relations best practices and experience developing authoritative content with an eye towards social and media engagement
5-8 years of content development experience, preferably across various content types: thought leadership, product positioning, retail/consumer insights
Able to work in a dynamic environment, drive forward key initiatives and manage workflow on simultaneous projects
Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a high performance, team environment
Strong communication and presentation skills
All positions require outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong project management skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, a strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
U.S. and / or global public policy experience a plus
