he focus of this position is strategic purchasing, which combines high levels of technical understanding and expertise with ownership of relevant commercial issues in an international team environment. The position will work with external contacts worldwide, including both suppliers and the Volvo CE Global Purchasing Organization. Requirements - Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in engineering, business, international business, supply chain management, logistics or related field and three years of experience in the job offered or three years of experience buying major commodities in the construction equipment or commercial vehicle industry. Special skills - Experience in supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, driving change, and negotiation/contract management; driving improvements, project management, process/system management, financial knowledge, problem solving, and technical commodity knowledge (manufacturing and engineering); cost breakdown analysis; TQM, Lean and Six-Sigma management practices; working with foreign currencies, customs, and duty rates, etc.; and global sources of supply and purchasing procedures. 25% domestic and international travel required.
