Duties: - This position reports to the VP Research & Audience Insight and leads a team of four media researchers. This position is based in Burbank, CA and requires 15% travel.
- Strategic partner with internal partners in Programming, Series Development, Acquisitions, Marketing, Strategic Planning and Finance. Foster and maintain these relationships. Serve as key point of information for strategic decision-making for senior executives.
Watch: Career Advice - Direct management of sales ratecard, the principal ad sales revenue stream. Produce short-term and long-term estimates for more than 50 selling titles. Optimize rate card and Selling Title management as well as directing the regular reporting related to ratecards. Track estimates against targets and conduct post-analysis of estimate accuracy. Develop estimates for series and movie acquisitions, typically 3 or more years into the future.
- Use advanced analytical tools to create target audiences for original series marketing campaigns. Custom testing of positioning statements, promos, and titles.
- Analyze network and series performance using Nielsen metrics as well as total digital audience consumption. Oversee network and series dashboards to communicate performance company-wide.
- Strong writer and expert in telling stories with data.
- Must find trends and highlights beyond what's readily apparent. Establishes deadlines to meet deliverables.
Qualifications: - 8+ years of linear, digital and/or direct-to-consumer research experience and relevant software applications
- 3+ years of prior experience managing people required
- Bachelor's degree required; masters or graduate degree highly desirable
- Communications, media, marketing or mathematics degree preferred
- Experience with linear and digital performance research, strong knowledge of Nielsen and related software systems required
- Strong knowledge of media industry
- Possess a solid understanding of the research procedures, concepts and capabilities; intermediate statistical analysis and demonstrated experience in how they are used in Research
- Has a solid understanding and routinely uses software applications that extract data that from primary sources, (i.e.: Nielsen, comScore, Rentrak, MRI, Fusion data, Audience Watch, Star, Adobe Analytics, etc.) Is proficient with these tools and is proficient in media math
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Possesses strong creativity, strategic thinking, executive presence, thought-leadership, problem solving skills with the ability to explain the logic behind their solutions in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present insights and recommendations persuasively, in a compelling, easy to understand manner
