Responsibilities
Database Administrators on this team partner with Network Engineers, System Administrators, Architects and Project Managers to plan and implement complex, technical solutions and architecture. The Database Administrator will utilize best practices and provide recommendations to maximize uptime and server utilization in Salesforce IT systems and technology projects.
Database Administrators plan, install, configure, monitor, and manage SQL Server instances, security, and backups. Additionally, Database Administrators define, track, and maintain the standard baselines and configuration sets of all managed and/or monitored instances and servers and implement industry best practices with regards to:
•Resource allocation and monitoring
•Performance problem identification and resolution assistance
•Clustering, replication, and other high-availability techniques
•Data security and recovery
•Data and database health practices (DBCC CHECKDB, etc.)
•Patch management
•System capacity planning
•Creation, configuration, and monitoring of SQL Agent jobs for database maintenance and backups
The Database Administrator will be responsible for providing 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
Requirements
•BA/BS preferred or equivalent work experience with demonstrated proficiency
•SQL Server 2008/2012 instance installation and configuration
•SQL Server 2008/2012 security implementation and management
•Transact-SQL for database management and general querying
•Full understanding of SQL Server backup and recovery procedures
•Experience working with large, highly available, and/or high-transaction databases
•Ability to coordinate, plan and manage complex technical solutions
•Ability to operate under deadlines, set priorities, and handle heavy workloads
•Ability to effectively present information to management, other departments, and public user groups
