The Network Engineering team is responsible for designing, planning and engineering novel technology introduction and improving the health/reliability and performance of Google’s production networks. We are building a forward-thinking network engineering team to design software, services and systems that will automate, monitor and optimize fabrics at scale within all of Google’s fabrics and networks.

Responsibilities
Create and review new functional and operational network system design, architecture to enable new standards.
Develop and de-mystify zero-touch network automation systems using robust software engineering practices.
Develop and design telemetry and analytics/learning pipelines and services to better monitor, measure, root-cause analysis, and debug these networks.
Be responsible for the long-term health and therefore help in the definition and prediction pipelines for network health - availability and service-level objectives - based on the requirements of the applications we serve.
Function as technical, engineering and operational subject matter expert for complex networking systems for partner teams, and customers.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of relevant work experience, including Unix systems administration with scripting in Python.
Experience working with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
Technical troubleshooting and performance optimization experience.

Preferred qualifications:
5 years of relevant work experience in a large-scale or critical production service environment.
Experience leading short projects involving multiple teams.
Coding experience in C / C++ or Java or Go and excellent software engineering practices.
Experience or a mindset around software-based automation and large data analytics.
Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
Excellent communication skills.
