Sr. Director Innovation Partnerships The North Face Alameda

We are looking for an individual to join the Global Innovation team as Sr. Director, Innovation Partnerships.
You will work directly with the senior leadership of Innovation, Brand and VF corporate executives to develop and execute the Innovation partnership strategy and manage the portfolio of innovation partnerships, supporting the innovation road maps and projects of the GICs.

Key Responsibilities:
Shape VF’s Innovation partnerships strategy. Establish a framework and business model for engagements with potential innovation partners. Own, refine and execute VF’s innovation partnership process.
Research, source, evaluate, and manage portfolio of partnership opportunities across our Performance Apparel, Footwear Innovation and Denim Innovation Centers and participate in partner selection process, taking into account technical and business considerations.
Work in collaboration with Legal and Corporate M&A teams on the execution of VF’s innovation partnership strategy.
Develop and manage third party relationships across a network of potential partners including universities, entrepreneurs / start-ups, established companies, venture capital, private equity, and investment banking.
Analyze different business models and develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with partners.
Negotiate partnership agreements by working with cross-functional stakeholders including product development, brand, legal and finance to ensure favorable terms for VF.
Manage contractual obligations of partnership agreements to ensure compliance.
Partner to implement integration plans of partnerships into the VF operational model.
Drive business case development, deal strategy and appropriate deal structures inclusive of licensing, joint development, joint venture, minority investment and acquisition.
Prepare compelling presentation materials to secure VF leadership support and approval.
Qualifications / Requirements for the position include:
Bachelor's degree.
MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Minimum 10 years' total experience in strategic planning, corporate development, business development, investment banking, management consulting, finance or related fields (or 2 additional years’ experience in lieu of an advanced degree).
Experience working in business development within R&D / innovation team strongly preferred.
Extensive deal structuring and negotiation experience ranging across a wide array of deal structures and responsibilities. Particular expertise in intellectual property transactions strongly preferred.
Ability to build a strong network across venture capital, private equity, investment banking, universities and entrepreneurs.
Proven track record of successful creation and execution of business development strategy, and prioritizing, sourcing, managing, executing and integrating opportunities against strategy.
Prior experience in innovation, manufacturing, product development, or related fields strongly preferred.
Proven ability to work well cross-functionally.
Ability to lead virtual teams, manage complex projects and work in creative environments.
Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments.
Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis and develop financial models.
Problem structuring and strategic problem solving skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Travel
Extensive (>50%) domestic and periodic international travel will be required for this role.
