The McKesson Corporate Human Resources team is looking for a Senior Director Labor Relations and Employee Engagement to provide a broad range of strategic labor and employee relations services to multiple business functions throughout the enterprise. The position can be located in our Alpharetta, Georgia office. The individual must operate as a strong team player, leveraging relationship skills and business expertise. The Senior Director will develop strong working relationships, take a consultative approach and act as a key advisor to members of the leadership team.

The Senior Director provides advice and support on issues including, but not limited to, employee relations matters, grievance matters, labor relations matters, employee conduct and capability and organizational change.
Develops and maintains productive relationships with internal customers, HR team and union representatives.
Promotes and supports the consistent application of HR and LR policies and best practices.
Provides prompt advice to leaders on the full range of labor and employee relations matters. Identifies training opportunities, develops training materials and provides training to facility leaders to improve their skills and abilities to engage in effective labor and employee relations.
Provides coaching, mentoring and counseling to supervisors, managers and directors in order to enhance their ability to be effective employee leaders.
Conducts site assessments, provides feedback and recommendations and develops action plans to address needs identified.
Anticipates and advises facilities on the impact that strategic or operational decisions will have on employee and labor relations and makes recommendations that avoid and/or minimize labor disputes.
Will serve as first chair in labor contract negotiations, grievances and arbitrations. Senior Director will stay current on relevant labor and employee relations legislation, current trends and best practices.
The Senior Director consults with leaders to provide customized and practical labor relations and employee engagement solutions to challenges across a range of HR functions including talent management (workforce planning, development, retention, assessment, career architecting and succession), organization design and effectiveness, engagement and culture, diversity and compensation.
Researches best practices and provides strategic recommendations based on data analysis and incorporation of metrics to measure outcomes.
Coaches managers to enhance leadership abilities, relationships among teams/individuals, interpersonal communications and performance management.
Develops labor relations campaign and training materials and analytics.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA plus a minimum 10 to 12 years of demonstrated experience in labor relations and employee relations and engagement, in both union and non-union environments with primary responsibility for managing labor and employee relations and engagement matters.
Critical Skills
10+ years labor relations and employee relations experience
Demonstrated strategic, critical, analytical and innovative thinking skills
Demonstrated experience in a collaborative labor relations environment
Demonstrated experience negotiating with unions and handling grievances and arbitrations
Experience diagnosing ‘people’ (individual/team) issues and recommending interventions
Change management experience
Exceptional communication skills, ability to influence all levels in the organization
Strong Consulting skills
Complete understanding of state and federal employment laws
Strong business and financial acumen
Experience leading complex projects and initiatives
Organizational Development/Effectiveness experience a plus
Demonstrated analytical skills with experience developing and /or tracking HR metrics
Experience in a large, complex organization preferred
Education
4-year degree in labor relations, human resources, business or related field or equivalent experience, advance degree preferred (JD preferred).
Certifications/Licensure
PHR/SPHR certification preferred
